 Extra zippered pocket inside the front pocket. And this is two separate pockets here. These are two separate dividers there, so this side is more of like a non-transparent pocket and this side is a little bit more transparent. It's like a mesh material and then the top is actually just a little pocket

 fits pretty nicely. Um yeah. I think the one thing I would say about this is that there's no like belt buckle type thing like no buckles on the front to like uh you know secure your your straps and also too there's no water bottle pocket on like either side so those are probably my only two complaints. But other than that, I think it looks really sleek and it's perfect for uh, like work trips and business trips so I'll be using it for that

 So three pockets total in the front which zips up to make the front shell and then the back side has another two compartments depending on how you want to use it. So you can zip this up like that and then also zip this up, then zip the whole thing up. I think it's meant to be used as a normal backpack like this, but also as like a carrying bag if you just want to hold it sideways like that. So our Terrex uh, Blade 20 backpack

 Um so like I said, uh Blade Architect Blade 20 Backpack: I'm about five seven, uh, 160. and this is how it fits on me. fits pretty nicely. Um yeah

 I would like to see this area of the bag redesigned for better compartmentalization. Other than that this bag is what you would expect from Arcteryx; well built, good materials, excellent fit/finish.

Mixed Emotions

Nice compact form factor

I like this for overnights where I can pack laptop, a change of clothes and some meeting essentials. Critically, it’s a bag you can open up to get your work stuff out without treating everybody to a view of last night’s underwear. On the downside, the shoulder straps are set weirdly wide apart (even for my muscular and manly shoulders) and a belt strap would help make it suitable for a bike.

Large for daily use

I find that after I've adjusted the shoulder straps, as soon as the tension is released the webbing slips through the buckle and you need to readjust when you shoulder the bag again. It's not the end of the world but is a little annoying since it's not a cheap bag.

 There appears to be quite a lot of storage space, given the 20L capacity rating, but accessing that space can be a bit of a challenge. The laptop compartment can be difficult to access because the lip of the outer perimeter zipper runs immediately next to the mouth of the sleeve, forcing you to hold down the edge(s) of the outer zipper while you remove/insert your laptop (an operation that requires at least two hands, preferably three). Conversely, the laptop sleeve has no means of holding its contents in place, save for its proximity to the exterior binding. Same goes for the dedicated tablet sleeve, there’s no closure of any sort on it either, and both pockets are ‘on their side’ when the pack is on your back, so you can’t count on gravity to make up the difference

 Honestly, once you load the pack up the panel is forced back to flat, but I wouldn't accept a bent $170 backpack, and neither should you.

For the sake of full disclosure, the only ‘real world’ experience I have with this pack is receiving it in the post, putting all my gear in it, trying it on, and boxing it back up for a return. If you’re looking for a review from someone who has actually used the pack, day to day for any period of time, look elsewhere. That said, my job requires that I spend a lot of time on the road, carrying a workstation grade laptop and lots of cables and accessories, so I’ve had my fair share of laptop bags over the years. I’m anything but occasional user in that regard

 Conversely, the laptop sleeve has no means of holding its contents in place, save for its proximity to the exterior binding. Same goes for the dedicated tablet sleeve, there’s no closure of any sort on it either, and both pockets are ‘on their side’ when the pack is on your back, so you can’t count on gravity to make up the difference. I suspect that a more normally sized laptop would mean easier access to the sleeve, but would also mean the lack of any dedicated closure for the sleeve would be an even greater issue. The tablet sleeve is smaller and in the middle of the bag, so it’s not able to use the outer zipper as a means of holding its contents in place, and is essentially useless

Good Idea, Poor Execution

 At the same time, if you have broad shoulders the backpack straps are short and uncomfortable, and the comfort decreases significantly as the weight of the bag increases.

 The pockets to protect things in crowds or commuting are nice. Their are so many that I forget where things are from time to time. I love it for a carry on piece. I can work or just know that my crucial materials will make it with me to my destination
