If you have good upper body and core strength and no medical issues, they are perfectly useable, just not as comfortable. Cabin Zero is a good example. My experience with Cabin Zero is that their volume size reporting tends to be off. For example, the 32 ADV was very close to an REI Trail 25 in side by side comparisons. It appears that dimensions measurements are made to panel seams vs a loaded bag.

I’ve used a couple different Cabin Zero bags and they are actually well made. They aren’t much to look at and no ergonomic wonder, but if you’re going the small bag only, the weight won’t be onerous anyway. The fabric, hardware and assembly are good.

Cabin Zero volume specifications are usually overstated. Look at the dimensions first. They are basically fabric boxes with shoulder straps and weak on ergonomics. If you are smaller or don’t have a lot of upper body strength you may find the larger ones uncomfortable for carrying long distances.
