Monolith by Monoprice M565C

At $249.99 with free shipping, I thought the “Monolith by Monoprice Electrostatic Headphone with Amplifier” was a reasonably affordable way to sample electrostatic technology. I have Shuoer Singer IEMs that purport to use electrostatic (electret?) tech, and I enjoy those just fine, so I was definitely curious to hear how “real” electrostatic headphones would sound.

cked up a bit with the Monolith M300 in-ear headphones..The Monolith M650 full-size headphone is the best-sounding product I've heard from the company. Better yet, it sells for just $150 in the US and £145 in the UK..It was clear from the get-go that with the M650 over-the-ear headphones, Monoprice has a winner on its hands (or should I say head?).

Very nice... Next I suggest iso-acoustics if keeping on the table or regular speaker stands like Monoprice Monolith...

I use the Monoprice Monolith 28" with my R3's, it raises the center image a little higher which seems more well placed.

: Sound, isolation, build quality, relatively easy to power. : Smallish earholes, boosted upper mids sound good to me but might not be to everyone's taste. Finally caved and bought these under-the-radar closed planars. I'm impressed!

Try the monolith 1060c. They sound pretty good, I prefer the 1070 but you're looking for closed back, I don't think there's anything better than the 1060c. They need eq but extends well. Seen then for 300€ in sales.

Love everything about these cans except the build quality. At this price the ear cushion should not be detaching after a few months of use.

You'll hear more airiness to the sound. This isn't an expensive upgrade -- you can get the Monoprice Monolith stands for about $120. They're fantastic for the price. I wrote an article about them some time back.

Build quality: I find the build quality of these to be very good. The cable connections seem to me to be really, really solid - it is actually hard to get the pins inserted, or to pull them out. There is no looseness - wiggling the cable connection just wiggles the whole headphones, no other movemen...

Just want to share that I love my Monoprice Monolith (5 x 200). I usually use it to power center and surround speakers, and an Anthem STR Power amp for front L&R, but I currently have the Monolith connected to the front speakers and it still sounds absolutely amazing. I also just tested LS50 Metas for a month, but only had them connected to the Anthem Amp.

I haven't had any of the issues with build quality other reviewers mention. Mine are solid and well-made, and I think they look nice too. Although I was a little disappointed that the dark wood stain on mine covered up the wood grain, so they don't look as nice as in the photos. Comfort is fine and ...
