 The purpose is for a very general purpose. For example, you can bring it on your plane as a carry-on use it in the city that you're in take it for a hike, and this is a very versatile bag that they're advertising this bag is for. So does this bag live up to more leaves brand or at least promotion about its purpose? So that's what we'll talk about today. So how is this backpack opened so first, if you loosen the strap here and then you loosen this second strand of hair and it's ready to be a little bit - [ Music, ] full-access, how do you close it take? The zipper here is the gap, so you want to make sure the zipper is fully zipped you're ready ready to go

 The straps are extremely adjustable. First, if you have your regular shoulder, strap length attend playing for just me, adjust the length for your shoulder, straps the hip belt, strap. I also be adjusted the length so standard adjustment. There is a sternum strap as well and also forgot what these are called, but basically they pulled it back closer to their shoulder funds on you

 Hip straps are attached shoulder straps, all the straps, probably adjusted the weight is fine, but if you're just walking around - and you want to throw off throw on this bag, have the hip and have the hip strap Stanley. You are gon na feel the weight on your shoulders there's this bag is quite heavy, and it's big shaking small, so he's using this bag put on all the straps properly and the weight is not that big an issue, but I do find it noticeably heavier than Other bags I have especially when lifting it like this by hand. The next con is that I find this bag to be wonderful in the outdoors, but in crowded urban environments such as Taipei, the size and all the other straps, as well as when you have the bag on, and you don't have the hip straps connected the hip. Straps sort of fly around and they can fit to get in the way of other people or sometimes when you're walking

 Sometimes the zipper can be a bit commit a bit tough to open, especially make that stuck at odd angles. So any of this Batman's open, say, there's some angle and that there's some items in the backpack and the backpack is angled. It becomes sometimes hard to pull up over angle. Basically, you get this straight in the zipper and a little close

I'm a HUGE fan of Ortlieb bags for their design, straps and especially back padding.

But I find that rolltop bags for daily commutes is really overrated and impractical (sure I get it for a courrier but unless you cycle every day in a rainforest, why bother?).

Do you guys have any bags to recommend?

Best commuter bag that's NOT a rolltop?

 Having a zip or rolling open at the top, this has a zip that goes all the way down. So if I show you here, it's got a super heavy-duty, waterproof, zip here and it runs down the length to the inside of the pack so bear with me. I'M trying to this one hand it one she's, not as easy as it sounds there you go so you can see the zip goes all the way down on the bit. That would be your back one of the advantages of that probably siren in the background

 To help keep you cool and on the shoulder straps, you can actually see you can adjust the angle and pull them down tighter or looser on the top as well, which is useful, and the waist belt has got a mesh pocket that zipped on both sides, which Is super useful when you're out hiking and obviously it's adjustable for that you can see that and then on the sides on both sides of the bag. You can see here there's a large mesh on the side here, which I use for things like water bottles or waterproof. So you can see again on this side same thing again, it's a nice big bungee there that you can put stuff into if you're, not using it completely full. You can see that there's two straps on the sides here on both sides that you can adjust and tighten up just to bring the bag in and make it thinner, which is really really as well and then on the back as well

 I start from the front or the back where the harness is you've got a harness here, that's built onto the bag, that's very adjustable! You can actually see it runs on these sort of rails, so you can adjust the height on it quite easily as well, which is really really cool and then the same down here at the bottom. With the waist area you can adjust where it sits, which means whatever size you are. You can make sure that it sits comfortably on your back the harness area. The shoulder area is quite well padded as well and meshed so that it's relatively breathable, so it keeps the main bag off your back

I've been researching bags for days now. The more i learn, the more lost i feel. Or i start to get closer to choosing a bag, then i discover another quality brand that i hadn't seen, or I see a you tube review and the bag suddenly looks flimsy and less quality than advertised on their site... like the direct action dragon egg.. and please correct me if thats not the case..Im active duty 8404 HM. I just need the most overbuilt, quality, top of the line, indestructible bag.  A 2 or 3 day assault pack that qualifies as carry-on. One that can carry some tccc med supply, and a few mres and changes of clothing/socks, maybe carry my civilian SBR, or be used on duty. Price is no issue. Yeah I have my gear issue- usmc filbe, 3day assault pack, and a big wonky med bag that looks similar to some mystery ranch bags, its all quality stuff, but Id like my own bag, that I can refine and use during FTXs,  short rucks, range coverage, etc.. I just need the best bag out there. Nothing flashy, just something that can withstand the abuse of being down range. Something not made overseas by child slaves, not trying to contribute to that, plus obviously, that shit falls apart.. I'll list the bags that i need to narrow down. But mostly, I need some recommendations, so that i can stop discovering more bags right as im trying to decide and purchase one. Heres some that I've considered .

I have had this bag since 2015, and have used it every day cycling to work in all weather, overnight trips, longer travels and even camping. 

Immediately when receiving the bag, I noticed the poor quality of hardware, the plastic buckles, sinches and zippers etc. and considering the high price, this was quite disappointing. The construction and other materials seemed extremely well done - so again it was a strange combination. 

Within one year the main buckle predictably broke, and as I am in Europe it isn’t really feasible to return it to the US. I had a friend replace it with a cheap eBay copy of the cobra buckle that was like 1/10 the price and has held up well to this day. I usually use the bag in expanded mode, and the inner zipper lasted about four years before breaking. 

It was hard to see online, but only the front compartment and laptop compartment have a “waterproof” lining, the main compartment doesn’t—which again, very disappointing considering how well it was constructed. When in expanded mode it really isn’t even water resistant, you can see light through the cordura and cargo is often damp after riding in the rain. The “waterproof” lining in the front and laptop compartment has started to decompose and leaves disgusting black flakes on anything stored inside, and is definitely no longer waterproof. 

Luckily the bag is very comfortable, even when biking with 25kg+ of drinks inside. The sternum strap works well, however the top grab handle is anaemic and could use some more padding/width. It’s a very heavy bag for the size, even when empty. The main outer strap is super handy for attaching bulky boxes etc. 

I wish it had one more external pocket, as the one is has is very tiny, only big enough for a wallet or some keys. Guess that’s where they upsell you.

I’m now on the hunt for something more waterproof like an Ortlieb rolltop (zippers never last), around the same 45L capacity but with more organisation pockets, and a big outer strap. 

Tldr 5/10, considering the price. Good construction but bad materials. Only lasts 5 years. Maybe ok if you are in the USA and claim warranty. Marketing is better than the product.
