Depending on your abilities - likely caused due to mechanical failure on the circuit board behind. Pressing on the button over time causes the contacts to separate from the board - no longer registering a press. Usually you can press harder...pushing the button assembly back until it makes contact at the solder points (assuming it's a solder issue - if so, just hit it with a soldering iron to reflow the solder so it's not cold joined). Otherwise the button is broken internally - and probably could be disassembled - but every time I've tried taking apart things like this I cannot reassemble them properly - or some securing tab gets broken - I believe they are designed to be replaced, not serviced - but you can try.
