Canon PIXMA i4500
Wear and Tear
Owned for 15 years, used Weekly
- Stress Points
- The print head no longer moves from the home position: I assume that the stepper motor driving the print head gave out, but it could be a circuitry issue.
- Positive Remarks
- I got the printer for nearly free as part of a new computer bundle. It was a solid printer for home use. Quite fast, but it also did a great job with photographs (with the right paper and configuration). It supported CUPS, so it was usable on linux. Surprisingly, after using it for 7+ years on a mac, I switched to linux and noticed a "2-sided printing" option was available. I'm not sure why the option isn't exposed with the MacOS driver, but it has a duplex unit!!!
