I did not blow up the ball at all. I did return the ball at Dicks and purchased the Fitness Gear (green 55cm) that was in store at Dicks, and I am extremely pleased with the Fitness Gear ball, it was easy to inflate even with just the hand pump - which is probably for safety - and I am very very pleased with my new purchase. It also cost less than the go fit and that is great! Hope this was helpful to someone out there. Don't be afraid of the hand pump, it's really not a big deal, and it's easy to use and store
