 Finally, the combined cost of the Vantage M and H10 was the same as the Suunto 5 by itself.

 The Vantage M has all the features I need, the GPS sync is quick and the watch is less bulky with a thinner strap than the Suunto. After using a Polar watch that needed a battery change every couple of years, I was worried about having to charge one every few days but a charge lasts about a week and recharge time is less than an hour, so it doesn’t feel like a chore.  Negatives of the Vantage M for me are that the wrist-HR is still not great, the watch does not sit comfortably in the right place on my wrist unless I have it uncomfortably tight, the 8 green/orange HR sensor lights are incredibly bright, and it won’t record sleep data unless you are prone for at least four hours. So I still have to use a chest strap for good HR (I upgraded the H7 to an H10) but at least I can windsurf and swim without having to carry my phone

Wrist-HR does not work for me but love the other features

  This watch really focuses on fitness, the recording of your heart rate, miles, time are all very accurate. The sleep tracking gives you a indepth review on your sleep each day which has now become a habit to check when I wake up.  This watch is not touch screen, this button controls are very easy to operate and turns out very useful when doing activities such as running, just click the bottom left button and your workout is paused.  The phone notifications is OK, they show them but you have to press a few buttons, scroll down, click on them to expand the message

My 2nd smart watch

A month ago I bought the Polar Vantage M because it was on sale, and I much prefer the Coros interface. The big plus is how comfortable all Coros watches feel and how lightweight they are. I can sleep with the Coros Apex on while the Polar watch hurts my wrist.

Looking for a watch for training and possibly some racing. I do a lot of workouts and repeats on a 400m track so I’m interested in the Coros Apex’s track specific tracking function. I’ve also heard good things about the Coros Pace 2. Most of my running takes place on roads/ sidewalks and the aforementioned track. I currently have a Garmin forerunner 620 which is simple and has the most important features  (pace, time, and distance) recorded and displayed but it’s pretty old and is beginning to stop functioning properly- I ran an 800m TT in 2:20 and it tracked my cadence as 137spm when it was easily over 180 (felt like a solid ~185spm). It also messes up the map sometimes and will have a really messed up split every now and then (I do easy runs at 7:00/7:15 per mile pace and it tracked a ~7:10 mile as 6:06 the other day). The features that are important to me are how easy it is to operate, pace+ time+ distance, and GPS tracking (not while I’m running but for afterwords when I upload it to my phone). A cadence tracker and an HR monitor would be nice as well but aren’t the most important. What watch would you guys recommend?

New Running Watch

I've had this watch for around 5 months now, brought over lockdown as was going through a bit of an exercise rut and hoped this would re-motivate me.  I generally train around 5 days a week with a mix of running, weights, rowing (water and machine) and I've found the extra data useful and interesting. I quite like the design of the watch as well, which I think looks quite sleek compared with some of the garmin ones, which swung me towards polar when buying. In terms of the accuracy, I tend to use a HR monitor when I'm trying to stick to a zone for training, so haven't noticed a massive issue with accuracy as when just using the watch I'm OK with being given a more general idea of where my HR is

 I did shave the hairs from my wrist and tied the watch really tight (see picture). It makes no difference at all.  Personally for me this is unacceptable. It makes the watch unrelaible

 Unfortunally it’s a huge disappoinment.  What I like about the watch:  It’s light weight It looks nice 24/7 heart rate monitoring  What I dislike and for me are a real dealbreaker:  Optical Heart Rate is way off and I mean way off GPS is off by more than 3 percent Because the GPS is off, the running pace is inaccurate The strap feels really cheap and fragile All sport profile settings and workouts need to be configured online, you can’t do this on the watch itself No sound, only vibrates  I ran on the track and did some 1 kilometer intervals. I also wore another sportswatch with cheststrap. During the interval my heart rate on the watch with cheststrap was 167 and on the Vantage M it was 131 bpm

  Personally for me this is unacceptable. It makes the watch unrelaible. It feels like an unfinished product. At this moment the watch isn’t good enough, maybe Polar can fix this with future firmware updates
