The other reason for me is I don't just wear this during those twilight hours or during those dark hours

 so it's important that I stay visible because I don't want to be mistaken for, you know, a game animal. So I'm going to make sure that the people that are out looking to maybe bag a buck or whatever the case might be that they're not shooting at me instead of that animal. So overall, I do think this vest is worth the 50 that I paid for. It's going to keep me visible and safe and that's what it's intended to do

 Now it's going to flash again, it's going to stay solid, and then one more time simply to turn it off. As this has become ridiculous at this point, I decided to quit free weights and move on to trying to building muscle through calisthenics. The idea is that even when lockdowns end altogether I can still save money by not spending it on gym fees.

However when navigating various bodyweight fitness guides, it's become apparent that it's not feasible to create hypertrophy for legs and back without free weights (i.e. squats and deadlifts). Given that, is it worth it to invest in a cheap squat rack and barbell w/ weights, and would I still save money on gym fees this way? Are there any alternatives?

Is it worth it to fork over money for a squat rack?

Beyond the armored vest I'd highly recommend a Helite vest or something similar. You can't put a price on your health!

Car made a sudden left full speed into me in the canyon. She thought she missed her turn on a two lane road and yanked her wheel. She said said she didn’t see me whatsoever in broad daylight. Accident was 0% my fault. Suffered multiple fractures and was in pretty bad shape in the hospital. Lucky to be here and eternally grateful God decided to keep me on this planet. 

Making this post to let you all know an armored vest could have saved my spinal cord. If you were thinking about buying one let this post push you towards the purchase. 

Everything aside the feeling of riding and seeing yourself expanding your skills on a motercyle is an untouchable and glorious experience and I enjoyed every second on my MT07.

Edit #1 - The biggest thing I want to share for all of you to see and hopefully internalize without having to go through what I’m going through is this. This accident has instilled me with an immense appreciation and gratitude for life. I’m letting go of my fears of the future for I learned that worry is pointless, because you really don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow and I learned that first hand. I could have been dead and wasted my days prior worrying about things that would have never happened to begin with. The present moment is the only thing that matters. I’m learning to enjoy what is in front of me with my whole heart and that love is the most important thing in this life. Do your best to remind yourself every day to find things to be grateful for and enjoy them as much as you can. The list of things we take for granted and all of the things we can be grateful for are endless. Take nothing for granted, for everything we are able to do and experience in our day to day lives are truly blessings. 

I woke up today to all of your comments. All of your kind words and support hit me in a positive way that I can not describe. I’m staying positive through this and all of you can too no matter what you’re going through in life. If it’s hard it’s a test of your strength and you have more of it than you can fathom. Strong as fuck we got this boys and girls 💪🏽. 

A bit more context on the accident. The car turned into me suddenly from the opposite lane of traffic and sent me flying and breaking through an iron (not chain link) fence. I believe that was the moment of impact that dislocated my spine. 

Gear - I was wearing heavy boots, motercycle pants, and a denim jacket. 

As far as recommendation for what type of vest to get, anything that protects you the most that you can afford. The purpose of this post was to avoid any form of possible trauma in any way regarding gear for a fellow rider. 

Don’t want to make this about religion but it came up a few times in the comments. I don’t believe God is a man in the sky. God is all of life itself including us. He doesn’t make any mistakes including this. He wants me to go through this to become a better and stronger man for myself, my family, and the world. You only can realize how strong you are in the face of adversity so say it with your chest. 

Life has its ups and downs and this is one of mine. Ups have come from this including my separated family becoming closer and me gaining a newfound perspective on life that I wouldn’t hav have otherwise.

Recent accident left me paralyzed from the waist down.

I agree completely with the glowing reviews.  This is, by far the best reflective safety item I've used.  The big "BUT" comes due to a short useful life.  I'm in my third winter bike commuting season and at this point I look like someone's errant wrapped gift

 But after experiencing more and more uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous situations with many cars, cyclists, and pedestrians whether I was on the backs roads, main roads or yes, even the great bike trails around here, I decided that it was time to do something about it.  While I have had my eye on what others were wearing as I was out and about, and noticed one particular popular jacket that was colored to be very noticeable and I tried on and liked very much, I became aware of a few issues that I wanted to address.

I think I have made my point. Although I do of course realize that not every driver, cyclist, and pedestrian will be that nice, or act that way, and I know that I will still have to do everything in my power to stay alert and be safe, including remembering the persons that are still going to be so busy or focused or impaired to see me, I know that I will be much safer out there now and enjoying my rides so much more just like I did last night.  It was fantastic.  And now I can just put this thing on whenever I like, or take it off in a jiffy, throw it a pocket, or my bike bag with very little room taken up, and focus my other dollars on buying gear that I like that may or may not have the "safety" colors or reflective stuff on it

It is all hollow hard plastic, but my wife says that it does not bow bend or creak when she steps and stomps on it. The only downside is that it does not come with any kind of carrying bag, so it is bulky but light and somewhat difficult to transport

 It does not slide at all on the hardwood floor. The top has a good grip. When i step on it, my foot stays stable and the cost is amazing too. I highly recommend
