Also recommend the f80 over the f63.  It has a lifetime warranty vs the 5 or 10 year that the 63 has. I can’t remember which offhand

Semi serious runner looking to get a treadmill. My only requirements is that it’s sturdy, has incline and has 12mph.

I don’t need any gadgets, don’t need workout modes and don’t care about screen size. I’m not a big person (165lbs). In the winter months might be putting upwards of 40mpw on it. 

Hoping to keep it under $1500. So far the Sole F63 is standing out for me.

Also, what websites should I be looking at that sells treadmill’s? Thanks!

Need help buying a treadmill

Careful with the filmback on the F100. The door catch looks like plastic but it's made of glass. Gaffer tape currently keeps my F100 closed.

Just upgraded my n80 to this bad boy! I'll have a wait a little bit for the scenery to get nicer before I get some rolls through it. Everything is still brown and yellow where I'm at right now.

Congrats on the home gym. I'm looking for a treadmill right now. I've looked at a lot and rn thing the Sole F80 fits my budge and needs.

<p>Since it&#39;s a rare piece, I figured there might be some interest in a review. Keep in mind I haven&#39;t used it very much yet since I only just got it (there&#39;s like 5 miles on the thing) and I don&#39;t have tons of treadmill knowledge (never used them that much before now). But here are my initial thoughts.</p>

<p>This is a slat belt design, which if you&#39;re a treadmill connoisseur you probably recognize as the Woodway design. It certainly weighs as much as a normal Woodway: shipping weight was right around 500 pounds! A normal deck-and-belt treadmill you can probably move solo; this one, to get it into the basement, required riggers.</p>

<p>I bought it by contacting the manufacturer directly. They directed me to their USA importer, ProMAXima Strength and Conditioning. Promaxima usually outfits large installations, but individual people like me <em>can</em> buy from them. This item isn&#39;t listed on their website, you have to call or email them. The total cost, including shipping, was right at 5k. I purchased it 8 months ago, and shipping has almost certainly increased since then, I wouldn&#39;t be surprised to see it at 6 or 7k now (which would put it outside of the reasonable price range imo, as I&#39;ll explain shortly).</p>

<p>I went treadmill shopping for both a piece of long-lasting and versatile cardio gear for myself to use on recovery days, and for my wife to use. I previously owned an elliptical, which I found acceptable (if boring) but my wife&#39;s stature left her unable to use at all. She didn&#39;t like previous treadmills she used in the gym (the belt-and-deck design) as the surfaces generally felt too hard. So we went looking for a slat belt design instead, which basically feel like running on a nice track. They also are VERY low-maintenance. The other benefit of slat belt units is they tend to require less powerful motors, which is a benefit when you don&#39;t have a dedicated circuit. The extra amperage headroom in my basement lets me run the lights and a television.</p>

<p>By and large, when you look for a slat belt, you have two options:</p>

<ul>
<li>Woodway.</li>
<li>Non-motorized, curved units.</li>
<li><del>Peloton</del> (lol recalled!)</li>
</ul>

<p>Woodways are very expensive. New non-motorized units also felt very expensive for what you were getting. So I looked around to see what else I could find. I discovered this Taiwanese manufacturer creating these clones, and I ended up being interested in this one for a few reasons:</p>

<ul>
<li>Fairly reasonable price for a real slat belt unit.</li>
<li>Excellent overall stats (max incline 15%, max speed 15.6 mph).</li>
<li>Seems like an original unit as opposed to a strict copy (I&#39;ve seen this exact design/footprint made by other import manufacturers like Xebex, but a Spanish design firm lists DK City as the client that they designed this unit for).</li>
<li>Has a sled push mode!</li>
<li>Has a motor-disconnected, free-running mode (but this is basically useless).</li>
</ul>

<p>I am overall very happy with this unit. The specs are not inflated. The feel is very good, described by my wife as like running on the nice track at her old high school. The sled push mode is a <em>great</em> idea!</p>

<p>If you have a heart-rate monitor, it has a pretty neat &quot;constant heart-rate&quot; mode that I haven&#39;t had the chance to try yet (because I don&#39;t have a supported heart-rate monitor). Basically it will increase/decrease the speed/incline as you run to keep your heart rate in a set range. Neat idea.</p>

<p>There are a couple of things that aren&#39;t so great. The console is extremely basic (they sell a nicer LCD screen version, which I didn&#39;t want to pay for). Its heartrate monitor circuitry supports only 5khz gymlink, an ancient protocol that is only still supported by some Polar chest straps. So my own arm strap won&#39;t work with it. This is despite the fact that it supposedly has a bluetooth module on the circuit board, meaning that with a little bit of effort they could have had it support BLE too.</p>

<p>The free-running mode is more of a gimmick than anything (I haven&#39;t used one but I suspect this applies to Woodway 4Front treadmills as well). Non-motorized units have a curve that allows the weight of your step to aid in moving the belt, and a flywheel to ensure the belt keeps moving smoothly as you run. This has neither; the best you can do is set the incline to 6-7+. So if you want to do some self-propelled high-incline running it&#39;ll work acceptably well, and anything else won&#39;t really. But, whatever. It has a motor, just use the damn motor.</p>

<p>Overall thoughts: It&#39;s a very, very good treadmill. At the price point, the (very attractive) alternative is a used Woodway 4front. At current shipping costs, I would go for the used Woodway instead -- you can either buy them right from Woodway (which they claim is the &quot;only authorized way&quot; to do it, whatever the hell that means since there are like 10 different sellers a quick Google search away). For home gym use, even a used Woodway will outlive you. <em>However</em>, Woodway only added the sled-push mode in the last couple of years so most used Woodways won&#39;t have it. So if that&#39;s a valuable addition for you, you&#39;re looking at 12k and up for a new 4Front.</p>

<p>Overall I&#39;m happy with this unit and what I paid for it. A bit annoyed at how it only supports 5khz heart rate monitors, but I&#39;ll just continue to use my phone to read it off or program an adapter app on my phone to output the correct 5khz signal.</p>

Alpha Runnar 22.1: a Taiwanese clone of a Woodway treadmill

 This is a very long box and probably will be he heaviest boxes package you have lifted. I admittedly completely underestimated it and I’m not a small or weak guy 😂You said basement? You 100% need someone else to help you lift it. 

I think all of the warranties are a crap shoot. Sometimes you get good service and other times you don’t across all the major brands.

My wife and I want to start to get into Jogging and Running. I use an recumbent bike now that I can ride for 25-40 minutes at a time a night. I think I've narrowed it down to Horizon and Sole buying it direct from them. Horizon charges $60 for threshold delivery and Sole is $99 for delivery buy I'm not sure what type that is. Who does Horizon use to ship with their free option? Is it worth the $60 to have them bring it in just the garage? It will be in our Rec room directly off the garage no steps or anything.

My wife wants  to use her iPad to watch workouts. She has an Apple watch also so we started looking into Apple Fitness+ which I think is $80 a year which seams really good compared to iFit or Studio or other services. 

I am 5 foot 7 200lbswife is same height around 145 lbs. I used to weight lift but I enjoy cardio workouts more. 

The Horizon 7.4 seems like it is very similar to the Sole F80 compared to motor and rollers and belt thickness. We don't plan on using the incline much since our basement isn't super tall. I like the tablet holders that the 7.4 and S63 and S80 have. Warranty seems the same or very similar and both seem to have similar customer support. Maybe a tiny bit better with Horizon?

Does anyone have any tips or advice for someone getting into running or and tips on what else I should consider? Anyone have any thoughts on Apple Fitness+?

<p>Has anyone Used Xterra? They are owned by the same company as Sole. The Xterra XTR4500 and XTR5500 seems comparable to the F80 and Horizon 7.4. </p>

Sole F63 or Horizon 7.0 AT or Sole F80 or Horizon 7.4 AT?

  I would go for the F80 or F85 if you can afford it to spend more to get a better unit with a stronger motor.  Buy it once and get one that will last longer for your needs.  Your needs may change in future and you don't want to have to shop for another unit.

I am looking to get a treadmill to replace the 3 mile rides I used to do at the gym 3/4 times a week.  I would usually do it at 9 mph.  I am looking in the 1k range.  Would the horizon 7.0 at or sole f63 be good enough or should I spend more for the 7.4 at or sole f80.  I am mentioning these brands because they seem to be the most popular.  I am 5'9" and 155 lbs.  Any advice is much appreciated it.

Treadmills with a decent pace

. It pains me to think about the money and time I wasted on the Horizon treadmill when I could have just started with the Sole and saved myself a lot of misery.

 I ended up purchasing the Sole F80 after making the tough decision to cut my losses and get rid of the less-than-one-year-old Horizon treadmill and could not be happier with it (the Sole is clearly a MUCH better quality machine, requires less maintenance in terms of lubing the tread deck, etc. cannot say enough good things about it). I have made it my mission to make sure people don't make the same mistake I did.

With the changing weather/availability of sunlight, we’ve decided to get a treadmill. I’ve done a fair amount of research and am stuck on which one to go with, Sole F80 or Horizon 7.0 AT. 

The Sole has better overall reviews but I’m not sure if they’re worth $600 more. 

Currently I can get the Sole delivered for $1600 plus tax or the Horizon for $1000 delivered plus tax. 

The specs on both seem pretty good. We don’t care about connectivity due to having Garmins and tablets.

Advice needed - Which to buy, F80 or 7.0at?

 Ifit would be cool tho. Belt needs to be at least 20x60. I am 6 foot 230lbs and plan on mostly walking, some jogging and some HIIT.
