I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack. 

 A small hole developed in one of the side waterbottle pockets but I can take resposibility for that when I shoved the tip of my trekking pole in there. 

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Even with the camera compartment loaded the back pannel is comfy and I never feel any of the gear inside digging into my back.

 We'Ve got this nice mesh here, but then there's also some ribs. That kind of raise that you know to allow for some more airflow, which i think is really nice, these pockets, which you can pop out [ Applause ] and have extra little pockets here that you can put lenses in things like that. I mentioned lens pouches earlier. In fact, let me grab one of these, so i own several of these pouches, which are the think tank pouches

 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. I’d pack the synthetic bag. Since you will be taking day hikes you won’t have to carry your heavy synth bag all day. And, as you indicate, you won’t have to worry as much about it getting wet.

Hi everyone, I have a gear quandary. I'm going bike backpacking in the PacNoWe for 3 nights next week. I have a light backpacking tent, not a bivy. I plan to line my sleeping bag stuff sack with a garbage bag during travel, and honestly, I will be at a base camp doing day hikes for most of it, so I will have the option of hanging my bag out to try if I need to, though that would inhibit my dayhiking/biking plans because I would be worried the bag would blow away/get stolen.

I am trying to make a decision about sleeping bag. I was originally going to take my beloved marmot down bag (0° F) and just be really careful. But a friend is trying to convince me to take my decades-old synthetic north face bag (also 0° F) instead because of the possibility of getting wet. 

I think this friend is underestimating my skill and carefulness, honestly. But I'd love to get some feedback from the community, as I don't backpack often anymore and usually in desert climates at that.

The forecast is rain the first night, cloudy the second day, and then sunny. Any thoughts?

Down bag for backpacking

Watch the size and weight on shoulder/crossbody bags in general. They are good for a few pounds for all day use. Any more than that is backpack time. I do like a small messenger for urban travel

I’ve been using a basic Quechua packable messenger/satchel bag for the past few years.  It’s served me well but I always wish I could get something more stylish. It looks like they’ve rebranded with a new name and slightly more urban look, but I’m hoping there’s something better out there: [Forclaz](https://www.decathlon.com/products/backpacking-compact-15-liter-travel-messenger-bag-travel-100-309862?variant=31629364232254) 

I’m partial towards a messenger because I also like to use it as an emergency overflow bag on my return trip. It’s not uncommon to have purchases (gifts, clothes, etc) that can’t fit in my main bag. Moreover, I prefer a messenger because I can sling it over my body and still be hands free. The 15L ballpark would be a nice size. 

Considering the packable bag options that come out every year, it’s surprising there hasn’t been many more options for messengers. Does anyone have recommendations? A sling bag might be another option but many are on the small side and I’m more inclined to the messenger look.

You have a pocket with some adjustable pockets in here and inside very colorful, thick padding and on the back. You have some velcro, so this velcro attaches to velcro inside the backpack inside

 So for me personally, if that was wider, maybe as wide as the bag, so that i could put a lot more things in there that i didn't need to go deep into the bag to get. I could just go into that pocket. That would be beneficial when i use the laptop case, which is not very often to be honest, i'm not usually carrying my laptop around when i'm using it. I tend to put it in back to front so the velcro doesn't stick to the velcro inside the bag

 As i find it's a real mission to get this out when this velcro is stuck to the velcro inside the bag, and it takes a lot of effort to get an eye, so i put it in back to front and then it quickly slides out. However, my partner has also got this same bag, and she loves this feature, and so she'll put it in the proper way put her laptop in and when she's going through security at the airport or needs to get quick access to her laptop. She simply pulls the laptop out rather than the whole bag, so i can see both ways. Yeah, it works fine, but i don't tend to put this in
