Comfort

Atlas Packs Athlete

(1/2)

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Granite Gear Crown2 60 Pack - Men's

(1/3)

Since I never got a pack that fit properly I might be incorrect, but I really disliked how even when I placed the pack on my hips by lengthening the straps (maybe this is how they expect you to "size" it?) all the weight went into my shoulders as the pack sagged backwards. Padding at hips was not all that comfortable and back plate texture was weird/not comfortable. Looks cool, but for $200 it was poorly designed.

Hiking

Atlas Packs Athlete

I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.

Granite Gear Crown2 60 Pack - Men's

(1/1)

I hiked for a few hours through some steady rain and had no signs of water on the inside. If you are making the switch from a conventional type of pack and want something lighter, this pack is it. The main compartment has plenty of room to carry everything I need to be very comfortable, even in winter time, for me and my Dog. The zipped pocket inside where the frame is offers some extra organization as well for flatter/less bulky items

Granite Gear Crown2 60 Pack - Men's

.simply can't slip down under those circumstances). The two zippered side pockets are indeed roomy. Plenty of storage capacity in the "cap" pouch and the big mesh sleeve on the pack

Carry-on

Granite Gear Crown2 60 Pack - Men's

My point is you don't need to spend nearly $400 for an excellent sub 2lb 60L backpack.

Strap

Granite Gear Crown2 60 Pack - Men's

(1/2)

I think the problem was that I didn't tighten the chest strap enough, the 2nd day I cinched it down and it helped a lot.
