Comfort

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.

Amplify that by about 30 portages and you have a real problem. I am so disappointed by this pack, and thankful for REI's return policy because this one is going back.

The black side compression straps are not particularly good for anything. There are pockets on the sides at the bottom which you cannot fit anything in unless the pack is empty - not sure the point of those. My biggest concerns with this pack are twofold: poor materials, and poor ergonomics. I took this on one 3 night trip to the boundary waters and the pack has rips in two locations
