Comfort
Atlas Packs Athlete
Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

The shoulder straps are nice and densely padded, with lots of mesh that adds some much-needed breathability, as this is a big, all-black bag. There are also load lifters at the top you can adjust to help distribute weight more evenly if need be. Plus, these straps contour nicely to the shoulders, helping them to fit and feel comfortable.
Compartment

We’ve just been keeping a medium-sized notebook inside and it’s worked well so far. Similar to the side and back panel pockets, flatter items are ultimately going to fit better, as anything with too much dimension will leave it bulky.
Carry-on
Size

BUT, all that carrying space comes at a price. The bag does feel pretty large. It has a nearly square footprint when set down, and its thickness makes it slightly awkward to carry around in tight places. It's also pretty tall: it doesn't let me wear a baseball hat backwards, and I can't see over it when I have it on my lap on the bus (this means that I have to turn it sideways to make sure I don't miss my stop - you'd think this means that all my stuff in internal organizers falls out of them, but they hold)
Strap

Only complaints are that the shoulder straps are a little wide and thick, but I'm hoping they'll break in after a while. Also, somehow there is already one spot on the inner strap that is wearing (I've been using it less than a week) so I'm not sure what's up with that. Otherwise, great bag.
