I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack. 

 A small hole developed in one of the side waterbottle pockets but I can take resposibility for that when I shoved the tip of my trekking pole in there. 

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Even with the camera compartment loaded the back pannel is comfy and I never feel any of the gear inside digging into my back.

 It goes all the way down in the front here, so you reach all the way down into the front of the bag. Right here, there's my hand going all the way in some more dry dry packs, so you can stuff clothes and things all the way down there. It'S got a little laptop sleeve right here in the front it might be hard to see, but you can slide your laptop in there and it sits against the cube, so it stays stays flat and it doesn't kind of jostle around and then here's the frame. So there's the steel frame i was talking about - and this is the large frame and you'll see it goes to here

 You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead. You can just put the medium frame in if you want it to be even a little bit smaller [ Applause ] additional pouch on the inside. It goes to there additional molle webbing and then a nice little spot for your name here, more straps on the inside

 There are also spots here to put in a smaller frame a medium frame. I think this is the large frame you can retrofit this pack to be a medium frame, and the medium frame goes right right here. You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead

 We'Ve got this nice mesh here, but then there's also some ribs. That kind of raise that you know to allow for some more airflow, which i think is really nice, these pockets, which you can pop out [ Applause ] and have extra little pockets here that you can put lenses in things like that. I mentioned lens pouches earlier. In fact, let me grab one of these, so i own several of these pouches, which are the think tank pouches

 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 You have another little stretchy area. Here goes all the way to the bottom: a couple zipper pockets here you could put SD cards or batteries or remote shutters or whatever you like there and that's the the camera compartment.   I have used my new Atmos AG 50 for five hikes now and I love it.  I no longer have back pain and the pack fits like a glove.  It has plenty of pockets on the outside and is made of very durable material.  I highly recommend this pack to people who may have back issues but love the outdoors

The best pack, hands down. For those confused, this is the 2018 model. Head to the osprey site, watch the sizing videos and take a look at the charts and measurements. Pick the right size and BUY it already

 (1) Installed strap excess clips, 38mm for hip, 20mm for the rest. I don't like slack hanging down. (2) Wrapped paracord around the carrying handle for more comfort when lifting or moving it. More confident grip on your pack

 Pay attention to the in-between size recommendation. Once you get this thing dialed in you will be in heaven. DONT mess around with the cheap packs, get the best and be done! Other reviewers of cheap packs say they will keep up with osprey packs if not better.

The Best, Dont even TRY other packs.

The main compartment has a semi-removable divider you can use to create a sleeping bag compartment (there’s also a zipper that lets you access this compartment from outside the pack. As a personal preference, I don’t use this feature, and simply load my bag into the bottom of the pack and then pack everything else on top of it. So, I undo the webbing straps from the buckles on one side of the pack, and let the divider flap fold down along the sewn side, out of the way.

The pack gets a 5; REI’s in store service gets a 4. With a 20-inch torso, I fall into the gray area between a large and medium. A year ago, I bought last year’s version of the pack at an REI store; the staff person who fitted me said I should use a medium (I suspect that might have been partially motivated by the fact that they were out of size large.) “It’ll be fine; fits you like a glove

I find the pack has just the right number, type, and size pockets to let me pack all the need-it-during-the-day stuff on the outside of the pack; I never need to dig into the main compartment to get anything on the trail. (The pack doesn’t have an outside access to the main compartment, but with the setup of the pockets, it doesn’t need it.) The hipbelt pockets are actually large enough to hold a small camera, or lunch and snacks. I didn’t have any issues opening or closing them while wearing the pack (of course, I didn’t stuff them full, either

Now, about the pack. This is, hands down, the second-most comfortable pack I’ve ever worn. (The most comfortable was a Dana Design Terraplane I had 15 years ago. It’s still made, under the Mystery Ranch label

  No matter how I adjust it, I cannot get this seam off my hips. Is this a problem with the bag, the size, or me? Id like to assume a $250 backpack with this much r&d put into it isn’t designed to dig into your hips like this haha. And I haven’t read any reviews that mention the same problem.  Any advice, possible causes, or possible solutions would be valued! 

Hello! I just made a post and then saw this thread. I just bought my first backpack (Osprey Atmos 50) and after getting out onto the trail, it almost immediately began digging into my front/side hips no matter how I adjusted it, this was not just from being too tight. After a mile I turned around due to bruises from the hip belt.

 So, having taken that closer look at the Osprey Atmos AG 50, you can see why we are so excited about this pack that innovative suspension system that makes this carry so well fit so great, while providing that ventilation. With a truly innovative suspension system,
an array of organizational features, weight

carrying capabilities and the custom fit that
hikers and back packers have come to expect

from Osprey, the Atmos AG 50 is the rare pack
that appeals to ounce counters and load haulers

Let’s take a closer look at the features
that make this pack so innovative.

I have taken off the Atmos AG pack so I can
show you its anti gravity suspension system.

That mesh back panel is going to jump right
out at you.

You can see those broad openings in the mesh,
great breathability and ventilation.

What perhaps is most striking is the fact
that this is seamless construction.

It starts out on the shoulder straps, carries
the whole weight through the back panel out

And as I open that hip belt you can see that
tensioning that occurs and provides just an

That single piece keeps the pack away from
your back.

So, again, you can really experience that
breathability.

But the support is so consistent as you are
wearing the pack.

There is some stiffening that Osprey has done
to the load lifter portion of the shoulder

That also enables the pack to sit away from
your back a little bit, further enhance that

breathability, but without jeopardizing any
of the structure, the stability, the load

hauling capability that the Atmos delivers.

The hip belt also has Osprey’s fit on the
fly adjustability.

So while the pack comes in three different
torso length measurements, the hip belt itself

can be adjusted with some Velcro tabs and
extending the wrap of the padding so that

folks with varying waist sizes still get a
really dialed in fit and the appropriate wrap

of that padding coming across the hip bone,
really, really smart feature there.

As I said, it does come in three sizes, the
Atmos pack, but there is adjustability here

on the harness to raise or lower that harness
so that within each size you have got about

a three inch range of easy adjustability.

Also a sliding sternum strap, as we mentioned,
the load lifter straps, hip belt straps to

All of those features working together to
ensure that you have got a pack that fits

great and moves with you while you are in
the back country.

I am going to turn the pack around so we can
look at some of its organizational features.

You can see that it is somewhat traditional
in it being a lidded, top accessed pack.

That lid, I should mention, has some height
adjustability.

So by maneuvering the straps in the back this
can lift higher in case you wanted to store

anything between it and the top of the pack
bag or free up space so that the draw string

closure here at the top has more room for
gear.

This can actually come off entirely if you
are looking to save weight and don’t need

Osprey has built in a pretty smart feature
here, just a minimalist almost top cover rather

than a lid to protect the internal contents.

On that lid, just to come back there for a
moment, there is a ton of storage here.

You actually have two separate zippered pockets.

I have got gloves, some food and in the larger
compartment beneath it I have got rain pants

On the front of the Atmos you have got a really
sizable front stretch pocket.

I have got my rain jacket in there and at
the ready.

But there is plenty of room for other layers
or other gear as well.

In addition to that large top access pocket
you do have a lower compartment, a zippered

There is a shelf that separates the top compartment
from the bottom compartment.

So you can separate some things, organize
gear.

But you can also open that up if you prefer
to use the Atmos as a single, large compartment.

A lot of other trail friendly features on
the Atmos as well.

You have got side pockets, perhaps for water
bottles or other gear.

There is also side access if you wanted to
cant the water bottles, so it is that much

Turn it over here you can see I have got that
bottle standing upright like this or slide

it in that way so you could grab it on the
go.

There are zippered hip belt pockets on either
side.

You can see I have got a hydration system
in place here.

There is an internal sleeve that keeps the
rest of the contents of the pack from getting

wet, a really nice pass through here for that
hydration hose.

So having taken that closer look at the Osprey
Atmos AG 50 you can see why we are so excited
