Comfort

Atlas Packs Athlete

(1/2)

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Osprey Hikelite 18l

(1/2)

Bought this a month ago and it's very comfortable! The orange color is very bright which I like and my hiking poles were easy to attach. Good size for a day hike. Before this, I had the osprey tempest 20 and this one feels bigger and the fact that the small pocket is on the top instead of near the back is a smart design.

I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.

Osprey Hikelite 18l

(1/5)

Bought this as a gift for my wife. She absolutely loves it for our day hikes. The overall quality of this Osprey is best in class. The lightweight design doesn't compromise the build quality!

Compartment

Osprey Hikelite 18l

(1/2)

It needs another small zippered pouch on the front. Most backpacks that I've had have three zippered compartments going from small to large. This has only two. I miss that small front one where I usually put my keys and phone

I don't usually write reviews, but it looks like this daypack is suffering from a lack of them!

Size

Osprey Hikelite 18l

(1/1)

The only downside I've found is that it's definitely very much designed for people within a standard deviation of average height and build. My fiancee, who is a foot shorter than me, finds it a bit too tall though and says it digs into her lower back a bit, so maybe miss this one if you're fairly short. Also, I'm a little on the heavy side and am not exactly of narrow build, but were I much heavier, the waist strap would be too short to use.

Strap

Osprey Hikelite 18l

(1/1)

My only complaint was the waist strap, which was not long enough (i.e. my gut not small enough) to fit around my waist. However, the waist strap can be removed until you're in a position to fit into it
