Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

I have used this for day hikes. size is good and the shoulder straps are tailored to keep the weight correctly distributed so they don't rest directly on the ball of your shoulder. I filled the bladder and carried two single-liter bottles of water along with food and extra clothing and it was fine, comfort-wise. The arch in the back support allows for some breathability

I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.

I've had this pack since 2012 and have actually used it primarily for hiking although I bought it for MTB. Worth every penny. I'm just now deciding to replace the hydration bladder (stayed clean with proper maintenance but it technically should have been replaced a long time ago by their guidelines). It fits comfo and literally grabs your body like the talons of an osprey, perfectly distributing weight while providing breathability

I'll return to osprey every time I need a pack, it's simply the gold standard and worth every penny.

Not too big not too small, perfect size! Plenty of water capacity for those long trails. Plenty of compartments for tools/extra tube.

only issues, and they are nit picky, I would prefet the waist strap be thicker att the way to the buckle, and it gets a bit sweaty even with the ventilation. definitely reccomend. much preferred over my old Camelback!
