 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 It'S not like the foam that you would use for your backpack uh straps, it's like a very thick foam, and so they they sent me these, and i actually was able to do the install myself to upgrade this original backpack to be capable of handling a lot More weight and to just improve the frame and that's cool, i think it's important to reuse. You know products like this and to turn them into more functional, updated products when we can so we don't just throw out perfectly viable and useful backpacks and other type of hiking this one.  It opens on the back and you get full access to the whole bag here in the back, and it has a little special feature called the origami compartment here, which basically allows you to turn some storage space into camera space or, like I said, storage space, and You have more volume for other stuff in the back. It'S it's very shallow, I'm an Olympus ambassador and I shoot with Olympus glass, of course, which is small lenses and they fit in perfectly. But if you have slightly bigger lenses, you'll end up putting them in sideways. Like this, I know that for future versions of this backpack there will be it'll, be slightly deeper and then normal full-frame lenses will also fit in upright or the general full frame lens will fit in upright

 They're not just smaller and larger versions of the exact same pack. There are some differences. this one has a laptop compartment on the front. This one has it inside

 They both feature this top flap drawstring top system and then they both have space down in front of the box that actually holds the camera gear and so with compression straps on the sides. Again, this is true for both models. You can stuff the pack as full as you need to and then cinch them down, throw a tripod on the side, and and make it work. Of course, made out of, you know, ripstop nylon

 Back panels are very similar with this sort of ribbed material. It's very comfortable. The biggest thing that I like about the the suspension system here is the waist belt. Now a lot of packs have waist belts

 just like any other outdoor pack you'd expect. They have the same suspension system for the shoulder harnesses here which is great. They both feature internal metal frames which again standard for hiking packs to help distribute the load of the pack down onto your hips rather than on your shoulders. They have or this one has an adjustable velcro thing for adjusting depending on your your torso height which is great can you get a good fit

 You have this large mesh slip pocket here and i really like the use of mesh to make it very easy to see what's on the inside and then i really like the size of it too. It'S a taller compartment. So it's going to be great for larger accessories such as this blue part, portable bluetooth, speaker and power bank that i have here. It was able to fit very easily, but this might also be a great spot to put a phone and then, in this compartment you also have a small clip

 I can also toss in an additional smaller packing cube that has my socks and t-shirts and things like that, and then i can close this up and then the bag is set to travel for at least a long weekend. Maybe even a week-long trip, depending on how minimally i was packing, so just really love the versatility of the size and how much it can end up holding without looking that big and then the last thing that we're going to take a look at in this main Area is the tablet and laptop sleeve, so starting off with the tablet area. I really like that it has a dedicated sleeve for your tablet. Currently, what i have in here is my ipad mini, but this would definitely be able to hold up to a full size

 Even when it's a little bit more packed out, the bag does have a pretty deep volume. So it can tend to stick out just a little bit, but i still found that it didn't get so big that it would be uncomfortable to walk around crowded areas or jump onto public transit, continuing on with the straps and the back paneling. So far, the bag has been really comfortable to wear. I really like how the straps have been implemented here

They have this meshy material to help prevent moisture from building up, and then i also really like that the straps have a nice width to help prevent the bag from digging into your shoulders, even when it's a little bit more packed out and then on the straps

 One star off because the mesh on the strap started coming off. The small mesh pocket in one of the compartments also had a hole through it after a couple of use. I use that pocket to put pens and a small pencil case. I don't really find the front pocket that useful

 It fit my 13.3" laptop perfectly. I carry about 10lbs-15lbs of stuff on a daily basis. It holds up really well

 Along with that comes a shorter back panel and a more narrow profile. The back panel itself is so densely padded that you won’t feel your laptop inside against your back at all. It also has a layer of Airflow Mesh to fight back sweat. A bit of this mesh is also on the shoulder straps for the same reason, although it does have a bit of a crunchy feel and sound

 So if you’re not looking for a hiking or climbing backpack, but still want something relatively small for your work commute, this could be it!

 So i really like the organization in here for the tech, then just got like my wallet and some other bits in here that are, you know, just kind of smash down in there so close that up and take a look at the main compartment. So once again you can see you know that compression strap i'm trying to zip it all the way down, and it's just you know, sort of blocking it.  If you want it doesn't really look as neat. If you do and then, of course, this compression strap does block the main compartment zipper. If you use it so just something to be aware of, i kind of like how it holds the water bottle into place, though so that's kind of nice. But again it's going to block the main compartment

Patagonia Refugio Backpack Review (2 Weeks of Use)

 I really like the harness system on that as far as the straps. The back panel has a nice frame sheet, but it doesn't have a ton of breathability so your back will tend to get a little sweaty. But it's a solidly built bag. It has an excellent organizational layout

 It has a lot of molle webbing all throughout, which provides you with tons of flexibility for configuring the bag with pouches or attaching things with clips. It's a comfortable bag. It feels well built. It's going to come in at a similar price range to this

 It's made out of a recycled 400d polyester that also has a Dwr coating. With other Patagonia bags that I've had in the past, they've held up well. I like that this also helps keep the bag lightweight. Comes in at just over a pound, which is particularly nice as these are meant to be used for hiking in addition to day-to-day use, so it's nice to save weight on that a little bit without feeling like you're sacrificing durability
