Comfort
Atlas Packs Athlete
Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

A rain cover is also stored at the bottom. It is big enough to cover the whole pack and is easy to get to (and store away) if you needed it on the fly. All the straps and buckles are of good quality. The backpack is very well designed with comfort in mind
Hiking
Atlas Packs Athlete
I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.
TETON Sports - Scout Backpack
This is the ultimate hiker/camping/bug out bag! The straps are extra padded to make carrying comfortable and safe. The various straps ensure your load is evenly distributed and your back isn't aching when you get where you are going. The large number of compartments allow you to take everything with you that you would need. There is a most convenient checklist included in the top zipper to help you remember everything
Compartment
TETON Sports - Scout Backpack
Pros: • Seems durable • Separate sleeping back compartment (I use for my underquilt) • 2 side pockets • 2 lid pockets Cons: • Heavy • Water bottle pockets could be angled forward, but they do fit 1 liter smart water bottles perfect • Mesh pocket on back doesn’t fit much, I’d rather have a zippered pocket or bigger mesh pocket, but that would add weight.
Carry-on
Size
TETON Sports - Scout Backpack
It is affordable, big, and will definitely pack enough gear for 48 hours, maybe a little more. If you're big on wanting to attach other molle packs, this is not for you. There is nothing "tactical" about this bag, mounting knives is a pain. Worth the price in my opinion, just not top of the line
Strap
TETON Sports - Scout Backpack
I like that it is built well. I like all the compression straps. I like the sleeping bag compression straps. I like that the bottom sleeping bag compartment can unzip to open up to the main compartment
