Comfort

Atlas Packs Athlete

(1/2)

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

The North Face Surge Pack - Women's

(1/1)

Love this backpack. It is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and I love how compact and easy it is. I just had a weekend getaway visiting my brother out of state, and it was the perfect size and made traveling very easy. The extra strap on the outside of the bag is a nice touch

Hiking

Atlas Packs Athlete

I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack.

The North Face Surge Pack - Women's

(1/2)

One is completely open, while the other has some organization for smaller items. Once we went on a long hiking trip where we needed to bring lots of water and we were able to carry four bottles between the two actual water bottle pockets and these two on the front. It was glorious, even though we didn’t end up drinking them all.

Compartment

The North Face Surge Pack - Women's

(1/1)

Finally, there’s the laptop compartment at the back. We are huge fans of bags with generous false bottoms to protect our precious cargo, and The North Face Surge Backpack delivers. This compartment is densely padded, fleece-lined, and has a spot for your laptop and a tablet. You can also fit magazines, small notebooks, or any flat items in here

I traveled light, just this pack and a rolling carryon. Bag performed awesome. was comfortable wearing all day exploring, was easy to use, held up well and just generally a great bag.

Size

The North Face Surge Pack - Women's

(1/1)

We thought the stiffness would soften over time, but it didn’t after a month of use. We mentioned before that the back panel of the men’s version is longer than the women’s. During testing, we noticed that the back panel on this pack felt extra long, so just be aware if you’re on the shorter side. Depending on your height and the length of your torso, you may find that it hangs slightly low onto your butt

Strap

The North Face Surge Pack - Women's

(1/1)

Anyways, I would just be aware of the weakness of the straps of this product, especially if you carry heavier items.
