I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack. 

 A small hole developed in one of the side waterbottle pockets but I can take resposibility for that when I shoved the tip of my trekking pole in there. 

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Even with the camera compartment loaded the back pannel is comfy and I never feel any of the gear inside digging into my back.

 It goes all the way down in the front here, so you reach all the way down into the front of the bag. Right here, there's my hand going all the way in some more dry dry packs, so you can stuff clothes and things all the way down there. It'S got a little laptop sleeve right here in the front it might be hard to see, but you can slide your laptop in there and it sits against the cube, so it stays stays flat and it doesn't kind of jostle around and then here's the frame. So there's the steel frame i was talking about - and this is the large frame and you'll see it goes to here

 You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead. You can just put the medium frame in if you want it to be even a little bit smaller [ Applause ] additional pouch on the inside. It goes to there additional molle webbing and then a nice little spot for your name here, more straps on the inside

 There are also spots here to put in a smaller frame a medium frame. I think this is the large frame you can retrofit this pack to be a medium frame, and the medium frame goes right right here. You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead

 We'Ve got this nice mesh here, but then there's also some ribs. That kind of raise that you know to allow for some more airflow, which i think is really nice, these pockets, which you can pop out [ Applause ] and have extra little pockets here that you can put lenses in things like that. I mentioned lens pouches earlier. In fact, let me grab one of these, so i own several of these pouches, which are the think tank pouches

 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 You have another little stretchy area. Here goes all the way to the bottom: a couple zipper pockets here you could put SD cards or batteries or remote shutters or whatever you like there and that's the the camera compartment. This is a waterproof, elegant looking, very spacious little backpack. We hiked through WA and OR in multiple conditions and there’s not one scratch on my (gray) backpack! It got a little tossed around in the car also and it looks brand new. I even went underneath some trees on our hikes and I could just wipe off the dirt, without any other scratches, etc.

Also, the zippers are really stiff -- to the point where it's difficult to open some compartments. I added some non-stick teflon lubricant and it helped some but not enough. The front pocket flap is also a pain because it's hard to get stuff out. 

Pack has issues

First things first, let’s take a look at this pack’s external pockets, starting with the large pocket on the front. We’ve been keeping the essentials like our keys, wallet, and a pair of headphones inside for easy grabbing-and-going while we’re on the move, and its bright liner makes everything inside easy to spot. We do wish the zipper for this pocket were on the opposite side, as we’re typically slinging bags around our right side when reaching inside, but your mileage may vary. 

The zippers on this pack have altogether been working smoothly during our testing. They have large, easy-to-grab pulls that help them zip and unzip with ease. This comes as no surprise, as they’re from YKK, which is a brand we have mostly positive experiences with (and a lot of them). We do have one small nitpick with the zippers around the main and laptop compartments that we’ll cover later in the review

At the very top of the bag is a thick handle with lots of padding that’s comfortable to grab and convenient for picking up the pack when you need to move it or get something out. It also features that same seat belt-like material you’ll find on the shoulder straps that’s nice and smooth in hand.

Now, we’re going to move into this pack’s front compartment. It opens up horseshoe-style and has some gusseted fabric on the sides, which allows you to get some nice visibility and access inside that you wouldn’t normally get with this kind of opening.

While this pack is a perfect size for minimalist carry on, at first I found it to be a bad fit. As a guy with a L or XL torso: the sternum strap was nearly at my neck at the lower of the two settings. I moved it to the very bottom of the padded strap, and it works much better but I had to let out all of the slack in the straps. As some has mentioned, access isn’t the best but it does have a good feature set

 I may even cut the elastic pieces that prevent that, 2. The chest straps are far too high to be useful so I removed them.

 It feels sturdy and I have no issue transporting my 15.6" laptop. I'm a 5'-4" and this bag size fits me well, don't feel it's way too oversized.

 They do kind of feed into the space of each other so like having the jacket in here worked out great, but it did kind of feed into what i could put into these two side pockets. So just keep that in mind for the future uh. Getting into the main compartments of this bag, you do have the front compartment over here. So this is where the majority of the organization for this bag comes in

 However, you do have enough space right in the like. The back part of this pocket to fit like any notebook pretty well to go along with the pens or just in general, anything that you might need or want on your day today, but getting into the main compartment of this bag. There is not a whole lot of organization in the main compartment, so it's pretty much just an empty cavity. As you can see here, i have a toiletry bag tripod, and one thing i do want to know is that this is mostly just kind of a commuter bag, slash everyday tech bag

 So it's not too much of a struggle, as you can also see on the straps. You do have attachment points for a sternum strap. Unfortunately, we did not get this with the bag, but they are there so, especially as you're riding your bike. You'Re

 Just kind of keep a note of that, especially if you're going on in the future with this bag. Okay, just kind of showcase fits pretty nice kind of eats into the side of the bag itself, but it doesn't do it in a way that might affect its overall functionality in general. So there you have it. Timbuk2 Parkside Laptop Backpack 2.0 Review (2 Weeks of Use)

 This is going to be a fantastic option to check out and so to wrap up. It'S been a great experience, testing out the timbuk2 authority pack deluxe over the past month. The bag has been very comfortable to wear. It has a great build quality

 No sort of internal organization, but again just a great spot to kind of keep everything easy to find and then the last area that we're going to take a look at is the main compartment, and so this is a top loading bag. So it has the zipper here that opens up very nicely. It would have been nice to maybe have this zipper go all the way down similar to the quick access pocket that we saw a second ago. It was nice how this had a little bit of a wider opening, so you get a nice view

 Currently, what i have in here is my 13 inch macbook pro, but you can see how much space there's left over at the top, and i like that. The compartment is suspended off the bottom of the ground. So it feels like my device is going to be well protected if i happen to place my bag down a little bit harder so pulling my laptop out now with the compartment empty, you can get a better look at the inside, and so it comes up a Decent amount, so you should be able to fit a laptop, that's a little bit thicker, but i would worry about how tight the laptop would start to feel if you fill up the main area quite a bit, so not as spacious as some other laptop pockets and It would have been nice to have more of a fleece lining to help protect against scratching, but regardless with the amount of padding that you have here and the fact that it's suspended, it really feels like my device is going to be very well protected. While i'm running around throughout the day up next, we have a slightly larger admin pocket that has some nice internal organizational options

 So far, the bag has been really comfortable to wear. This is one of the biggest updates to the bag. Is this new system of strap that they have here? It has plenty of padding it's really thick and comfortable right out of the box and then on the inside. You can see it has these kind of ridges here that just provide a lot of extra padding and the material isn't quite as breathable as i would normally like to see

 And then, as I mentioned, the straps have been really comfortable to wear and there's also plenty of padding on the back and a ventilation so that you know it'll be comfortable we're on a long day, but also you know, help keep air flowing and reduce the moisture That builds up on your back, so just kind of wrapping up on the outside of the bag. I just really want to know how nice everything feels like the quality of the materials is really really good. I like that the compression straps the buckles are actually metal, as opposed to the plastic that you typically find on a lot of bags, and everything just feels like it'll really hold up well for a long time, and and overall, just the aesthetic of the bag is Really pleasing to me, it reminds me a lot of the LA Packer tiger, new bag that I've reviewed previously, and this is kind of a more premium version of that bag. In my opinion, they're about the same size, this one just has a little bit better build

 So it would be really easy to see for anybody that was walking behind me. I really like that. The bag has two compression straps on the outside of the bag, as I mentioned earlier, with the water bottle pocket, it kind of adds a little bit more versatility, but then, on the other side as well, you can use it to hang a jacket or something like That and that may be on this side, you could actually hang the yoga mat that I was referring to earlier. These stretch out quite a bit, and then you can also use it to compress the bag

 Your small electronics in and different accessories, but let's go ahead and go through what I have in here and kind of how it fits into the bag. So, first of all I have here my beats solo three headphones and then I also have my extension cable. For my laptop charger, okay, so I have to sit a little bit farther away from the plug than usual, and then I have my bag. Smart, electronics, organizer, where I keep all my cables and chargers and stuff, and then I still haven't finished reading the lean startup
