 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 You have another little stretchy area. Here goes all the way to the bottom: a couple zipper pockets here you could put SD cards or batteries or remote shutters or whatever you like there and that's the the camera compartment. I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel.  It'S not like the foam that you would use for your backpack uh straps, it's like a very thick foam, and so they they sent me these, and i actually was able to do the install myself to upgrade this original backpack to be capable of handling a lot More weight and to just improve the frame and that's cool, i think it's important to reuse. You know products like this and to turn them into more functional, updated products when we can so we don't just throw out perfectly viable and useful backpacks and other type of hiking this one. So that's it! That'S my review of the bag. I think it's a great backpack, i i think it's um worth checking these out

 And then here i've got a long, a large version of a telephoto a little bit longer than your traditional 70 to 200, but essentially the the same grouping of lenses all right. So i want to take you inside of the backpack a little bit now. This is the main chamber: we've obviously opened up the backpack flap. This is fairly thin

 This bag is a 20 liter backpack. It is really a hiking backpack that has a camera core built in, and that is exactly what i was looking for and why was that? What i was looking for? Well, i had been living with the peak design bag and you can see a review on my channel of that bag for uh two years and i like that bag. I think it's very functional, but i was taking it hiking and i was taking it outside or more often i was ditching it and just throwing my camera into my hiking backpack, and that was not a good situation and the reason why was the lack of padding And comfort overall, on that peak design bag, i don't actually think i want anything different when i'm shooting in the city. I know that often we're driving to a location, we're taking pictures or we're taking

. So it's a pretty big backpack, but this is the backpack that i've used for like five or six years. It'S so comfortable! You throw this thing on and you can walk for miles and you don't even feel the weight and why is it so comfortable? That'S the real question that we want to answer and we want to see these attributes in the bags that we choose for camera gear, so first thing comfortable, straps, obviously right, but the nice padding and the good form and the heavy duty foam. These are important factors in creating a comfortable, strap

 If you want stuff that needs to stay absolutely dry, this is a well protected area for your important documents and things like that. This bag has been incredibly comfortable. The most comfortable backpack I've ever had that's also a camera bag and, as you can see, this bag expands to infinity. I haven't actually reached a point where this bag is full, where it's overfilled and where it's been too heavy to carry or anything like that

 It opens on the back and you get full access to the whole bag here in the back, and it has a little special feature called the origami compartment here, which basically allows you to turn some storage space into camera space or, like I said, storage space, and You have more volume for other stuff in the back. It'S it's very shallow, I'm an Olympus ambassador and I shoot with Olympus glass, of course, which is small lenses and they fit in perfectly. But if you have slightly bigger lenses, you'll end up putting them in sideways. Like this, I know that for future versions of this backpack there will be it'll, be slightly deeper and then normal full-frame lenses will also fit in upright or the general full frame lens will fit in upright

 They're not just smaller and larger versions of the exact same pack. There are some differences. this one has a laptop compartment on the front. This one has it inside

 They both feature this top flap drawstring top system and then they both have space down in front of the box that actually holds the camera gear and so with compression straps on the sides. Again, this is true for both models. You can stuff the pack as full as you need to and then cinch them down, throw a tripod on the side, and and make it work. Of course, made out of, you know, ripstop nylon

 Back panels are very similar with this sort of ribbed material. It's very comfortable. The biggest thing that I like about the the suspension system here is the waist belt. Now a lot of packs have waist belts

 just like any other outdoor pack you'd expect. They have the same suspension system for the shoulder harnesses here which is great. They both feature internal metal frames which again standard for hiking packs to help distribute the load of the pack down onto your hips rather than on your shoulders. They have or this one has an adjustable velcro thing for adjusting depending on your your torso height which is great can you get a good fit

 There's also a zipper to be able to put your laptop in and out from the back. I Ordered the Timbuktu Spire online and when I received it, I was not impressed by the fit and finish. It had this cheap feeling rubber material all over it and the the straps and things like that felt like it was something off of a really cheaply made bag

 Oh, this thing drives me nuts because I always accidentally leave it open I never know what was in there I never know what could have fallen and it just drives me bonkers. So I try not to use it, but it's also really convenient I could have lost $100 in quarters since I've had this bag or maybe nothing. The other thing I don't like is kind of what bags are going for these days. It's kind of a tactical look and I just think it looks kind of goofy

 Right on the back side, there's two straps like a normal backpack. There's nice padding against the back. There's also a zipper to be able to put your laptop in and out from the back.  Today we're talking about the Timbuktu Spire Backpack [Music] The Timbuktu Spires a top loaded backpack that's closed with a flip top that's fastened with both velcro and a hug. There is a zipper compartment in the front that would probably hold about three pairs of sunglasses in cases. There is a bunch of tactical webbing across the front. There's some velcro that allows you to put a new lock within within that space, and there's also a vertical pocket towards the top

Timbuk2 Spire - The backpack I didn't want to like.....

 It comes with an impressive amount of space, and i really like its organizational layout, and so you can currently purchase this on timbuktu's site for about a hundred dollars which considering the features and build quality that the bag has to offer, feels like a pretty reasonable price And it also compares well to other similar bags in this price range, and so, as i was testing this out, one of the first bags that this made me think of was timbuktu's parker pack, which you looked at pretty recently. That was another really solid kind of everyday bag. It also offered a little bit more space and it was expandable to give you that extra bit of capacity, if you wanted to use it for traveling or for just a larger everyday, carry that's also a bike. That'S a little more focused on kind of commuting by bike, as it comes with a rain cover, and it also has some reflective panels to make you a little bit more visible when you're riding around

 So we'll take a look at the side zipper for now and so very well protected zipper. I like that, it's nice and big so that if you have a bigger device, you can get it in and out well, and so the compartment itself offers a nice amount of padding and it is suspended off the bottom of the ground. To help add that extra peace of mind, if you happen to place your device down a little bit harder, and so you can see that, with the 13 inch macbook pro that i currently have in here, there's some left over space at the top, which is nice To see and then pulling my laptop out now with the compartment empty, you can get a better look at the inside, so it comes up a decent amount. If you happen to have a thicker device, it should be able to fit in there, okay and so no sort of fleece lining or anything like that on the inside, which would have been nice to help prevent again scratching, but again, a nice amount of padding and It really feels like my device, is going to be well protected, regardless of whatever activities i'm doing during the day and then the last area that we're going to take a look at is the main compartment, and so this is a top loading bag, and this is One of the biggest changes from the original spire backpack, which had more of a hook system that you could adjust

 What i have here is the travel kit from side by side, which just has some small accessories that i like to have with me, such as a sim ejector tool and an rfid protected sleeve to hold things like my credit card or id. And then the next area that we're going to take a look at is the laptop compartment, and so i really like that you can actually access the laptop from this side zipper here and also from the top. So we'll take a look at the side zipper for now and so very well protected zipper. I like that, it's nice and big so that if you have a bigger device, you can get it in and out well, and so the compartment itself offers a nice amount of padding and it is suspended off the bottom of the ground

 Some additional flexibility and then moving into the capacity the bag comes in at about 26 liters, which is a really versatile size. In my opinion, i was easily able to hold all the items that i normally like to carry with me on my day-to-day, and i like that. It has some extra capacity if i have to carry some extra stuff or if i want to use this for minimal travel, and then i really like that, even when the bag is a little bit more packed out, it stays really slim and close to my back, Which makes it great for navigating credit areas jumping onto public transit or riding my bike, continuing on with the straps in the back paneling. So far, the bag has been really comfortable to wear

Best Daily / Cycling Bags: Timbuk2 Spire 2.0 Laptop Backpack Review

 I've been able to walk through for tens of minutes in whatever rain San Francisco can offer in the winter months; everything is dry. Everything on the Spire is well-padded and it's a very comfortable bag. I've worn it continuously on a 100mi bike ride and that wasn't too bad (for a 100mi ride that is). There are a lot of extra attachment points on the bag and I've attached my U lock to the front, freeing some space in the main body for a big grocery run

 So that's that and then i've got a notebook in here too so yeah first way to access. It is just opening up the main compartment like this, but you can actually also access it from the back panel. So if you look on the back panel, you'll see there's like a little zipper here, so you just unzip that and then you can access it. So, as you can see, um the bag does have a bit of like a tactical feel because it has the webbing on the front. But this is actually for a u-lock, so, as i mentioned before, if you're commuting to work by bike, it's really convenient to be able to just stick your lock in here and just go on with your day

 The days i did ride my bike. It was really really nice and really comfortable same on the shoulder straps here. You'Ve got nice bit of padding and some mesh, and then we have the sternum strap, which is really easy to remove you just unhook it there like that um for the most part they stayed in place. I only had once where this strap just sort of disconnected and and fell off, so maybe watch out for that

 So you can see at the back. There is the laptop compartment. So there's actually two ways to access this. The first is just here when you've got the main compartment open and i believe it fits up to a 17 inch

Timbuk2 Spire Laptop Backpack 2.0 Review (2 Weeks of Use)

Bike commuter here. Not waterproof. Bottom was very wet after a quick rain storm this morning. Love the look of the pack and how it holds items

 The laptop is nicely cradled, but books on the bottom can hardly be reached while looking down into a dark, long bag. So you have to look for what you want, and then stick an arm way down to reach it, trying to identify your book by touch. It is very difficult to even see to the bottom of the bag. Since it is so narrow, you have to go later by layer

 Size is big but not stupid big.  My problem was that it is shaped like a paper grocery bag, but too long and narrow to access anything on the bottom. The laptop is nicely cradled, but books on the bottom can hardly be reached while looking down into a dark, long bag.
