I also purchased a Capture Clip from Peak Designs which allows you to fix the camera to the shoulder strap in place while hiking – a great addition to this pack. 

 A small hole developed in one of the side waterbottle pockets but I can take resposibility for that when I shoved the tip of my trekking pole in there. 

Important: Choose the Adventure or Athlete hip belt – otherwise you will have literally no padding on your hips. I don’t recommend using the bag without a hipbelt either. The Adventure belt is more comfortable as it provides two layers of foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle – it’s also bigger and bulkier.

Even with the camera compartment loaded the back pannel is comfy and I never feel any of the gear inside digging into my back.

 It goes all the way down in the front here, so you reach all the way down into the front of the bag. Right here, there's my hand going all the way in some more dry dry packs, so you can stuff clothes and things all the way down there. It'S got a little laptop sleeve right here in the front it might be hard to see, but you can slide your laptop in there and it sits against the cube, so it stays stays flat and it doesn't kind of jostle around and then here's the frame. So there's the steel frame i was talking about - and this is the large frame and you'll see it goes to here

 You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead. You can just put the medium frame in if you want it to be even a little bit smaller [ Applause ] additional pouch on the inside. It goes to there additional molle webbing and then a nice little spot for your name here, more straps on the inside

 There are also spots here to put in a smaller frame a medium frame. I think this is the large frame you can retrofit this pack to be a medium frame, and the medium frame goes right right here. You can see that so there's the sizing for the large frame there's the sizing for the medium frame. Now it will fit under uh under an airline seat as it is in the large frame and will also fit in the overhead

 We'Ve got this nice mesh here, but then there's also some ribs. That kind of raise that you know to allow for some more airflow, which i think is really nice, these pockets, which you can pop out [ Applause ] and have extra little pockets here that you can put lenses in things like that. I mentioned lens pouches earlier. In fact, let me grab one of these, so i own several of these pouches, which are the think tank pouches

 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

Phew! We made it through the outside. Now, it’s time to get inside this pack. First up? The front pockets.

During testing, we’ve been keeping the Blunt Metro Umbrella in this spot—we’ve found that we can easily cinch down these straps to keep it nice and secure. This is a unique feature that we haven’t seen on many bags before, and we appreciate the modularity it offers. 

That said, we’re not sure how much we’re liking this setup—our tech is almost free-floating inside. We would’ve appreciated a dedicated laptop sleeve built directly into the bag, but this integration does make for smooth, quick access (and we can dig that if nothing else).

Then, you have a basic, no-frills sternum strap that you can easily adjust by sliding it up and down to wherever it feels comfortable. The attachment is secure so we’re not worried about it coming undone and us losing it, also, which we appreciate. Again, no elastic keeper on here so depending on how tightly you have it cinched, the excess strap may be bouncing around as you walk (or giving you a constant high five on your chest, depending on how you want to look at it).

Hey all,

After searching high and low for my first travel backpack, pining for and eventually getting the vaunted Aer Travel Pack 2, it has *mostly* lived up to the hype. The way it's compartmentalized is super functional, aesthetically it's sleek as, and it's built for when shit hits the fan. I love this bag on paper, but having used it on a couple of recent trips, it feels a bit... soulless? The black on black looks cold, but I think what gets me is the rigid construction and the synthetic materials make the bag feel like more of a 'travel case' than a 'travel bag'. Can anyone relate to this? When I get back to my hostel late at night in a foreign city tired and buzzed I want my bag to feel like *home* because that's the closest thing I have to home. The Aer feels like a bit like a locker. In my research I came across a few bags made of more natural materials with a decidedly softer look/vibe, but none that had exactly what I needed functionally. I'm starting to think I may have been sold on the Aer's form and function but overlooked its *feeling*. 

So my question(s) to you is this: Do you have a bag that feels like home? Have I just not had this bag long enough? Am I just stoned? Do you also think that the Aer Travel Pack 2 feels a bit vapid? Any solidarity is appreciated

How much do you value the *feel* of a bag? An open letter to the Aer Travel Pack 2

I do not work for Tom Bihn, which I feel is important to say because I am always recommending their stuff, but the [Tom Bihn Brain Bag]([URL REMOVED] is designed for two laptops & lots of tech accessories. You could also adapt pretty much any of their bags that use the rail loops system to accept two of their laptop holders. This [review from Wired]([URL REMOVED] says it all.

Starting in 2021 I'll be living a bit of a nomadic lifestyle and working "from anywhere." However, my work leaves me with 2 laptops, an ipad, and a kindle (the kindle isn't technically work related, but still will be coming with me) that'll need safe transporting. I'd love to find a backpack/tote/trunk that can safely fit all the electronics, but I'm not sure if such a thing exists. Has anyone come across anything similar to this?

Can you work with a smaller bag? Does it has the be 20L? It could be a smaller hip bag like the TOM BIHN LGD (review [here]([URL REMOVED] It’s just much easier to manage.

Let's say I travel for a month in Europe with a 40L on my back and a 20L for my daypack (a non-packable one that sits on my chest when traveling between cities). 

How does that sound? Any and all advice welcome.

Is it normal/recommended to travel with two bags, one on my back and one on my chest? Never been on a plane before/left the country.
