 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 You have another little stretchy area. Here goes all the way to the bottom: a couple zipper pockets here you could put SD cards or batteries or remote shutters or whatever you like there and that's the the camera compartment.  It'S not like the foam that you would use for your backpack uh straps, it's like a very thick foam, and so they they sent me these, and i actually was able to do the install myself to upgrade this original backpack to be capable of handling a lot More weight and to just improve the frame and that's cool, i think it's important to reuse. You know products like this and to turn them into more functional, updated products when we can so we don't just throw out perfectly viable and useful backpacks and other type of hiking this one. So that's it! That'S my review of the bag. I think it's a great backpack, i i think it's um worth checking these out

That'S the real question that we want to answer and we want to see these attributes in the bags that we choose for camera gear, so first thing comfortable, straps, obviously right, but the nice padding and the good form and the heavy duty foam.  If you want stuff that needs to stay absolutely dry, this is a well protected area for your important documents and things like that. This bag has been incredibly comfortable.  It opens on the back and you get full access to the whole bag here in the back, and it has a little special feature called the origami compartment here, which basically allows you to turn some storage space into camera space or, like I said, storage space, and You have more volume for other stuff in the back. It'S it's very shallow, I'm an Olympus ambassador and I shoot with Olympus glass, of course, which is small lenses and they fit in perfectly. But if you have slightly bigger lenses, you'll end up putting them in sideways. Like this, I know that for future versions of this backpack there will be it'll, be slightly deeper and then normal full-frame lenses will also fit in upright or the general full frame lens will fit in upright

 They're not just smaller and larger versions of the exact same pack. There are some differences. this one has a laptop compartment on the front. This one has it inside

 They both feature this top flap drawstring top system and then they both have space down in front of the box that actually holds the camera gear and so with compression straps on the sides. Again, this is true for both models. You can stuff the pack as full as you need to and then cinch them down, throw a tripod on the side, and and make it work. Of course, made out of, you know, ripstop nylon

 Back panels are very similar with this sort of ribbed material. It's very comfortable. The biggest thing that I like about the the suspension system here is the waist belt. Now a lot of packs have waist belts

 just like any other outdoor pack you'd expect. They have the same suspension system for the shoulder harnesses here which is great. They both feature internal metal frames which again standard for hiking packs to help distribute the load of the pack down onto your hips rather than on your shoulders. They have or this one has an adjustable velcro thing for adjusting depending on your your torso height which is great can you get a good fit

 But moving on to the components of this thing. all of the zippers on here are Ykk. so this pocket here is a Ykk with a water resistant track there. you can see that and we have the classic zipper pulls that we're used to from track

 got the little circle, the metal circle and just you know makes it a lot easier to grab onto and really easy to open. I'm a big fan of these zipper pulls and the the two track items that I have tested have it both this and one of their slings and I just I really like these zipper pulls. Even when they're wet, you know it's easy to grab onto because you can just stick your finger through there and open it and it's really quick and you can even if you want to throw a you know, a little lock on there to lock these together so people can't get inside your bag. So it does get pretty warm, especially on a hot day if you're moving quickly

 And one more comment on this con here we so we obviously you know we I was you know testing this pack but we also had other people try it on and after Lauren tried it on she had adjusted the straps and I was trying to get it back to you know where my happy place trying to get it back where it was and something I liked about it was that because it is such a sturdy material it kind of like leaves a um like an indent where it was. So I had had it there for two weeks and then Lauren tried it on and then when I went to put it back it kind of like snapped back into place and I really liked that because it you can you know, let someone else wear it and they'll adjust it to their how they like it and so long as you put it back within you know a day or so it'll kind of snap snap back into place because this con kind of held like a little ridge and I didn't notice it until I went to put it back. So it wasn't like you could see it on the strap here. but just something to note that I think that's an awesome thing

Trakke Wester Roll-Top Backpack Review (2 Weeks of Use)

 We like it whenever we see small backpacks that do not omit a laptop sleeve, and this one even has some padding, too. The only notable missing feature is a false bottom, but we’ll be a bit forgiving here since the Canna doesn’t have a ton of footprint to work with. That said, a false bottom may mitigate some of that digging in we mentioned in the previous section.

On the face of it, the Canna features a similar heritage styling, headlined by its dry-finish waxed canvas and tote-style handles. Pictures don’t really do it enough justice, but this is a petite little daypack, so space is a primary concern. Thankfully, Trakke manages to allocate the Canna’s limited 11 liters well. Some compromises abound, however, especially when you’re dealing with a small backpack like this

The zippers are from YKK, which is reassuring since they’re pretty much the gold standard for zippers. They’re AquaGuard-style, which prevent moisture from seeping in. While the zippers themselves are fine if a bit stiff, the ring pulls raise some doubt. 

Finally, we’ve arrived at the 14-inch laptop sleeve. It fits our 13-inch MacBook just fine, but it can go up to a 14-inch MacBook Pro as well. We like it whenever we see small backpacks that do not omit a laptop sleeve, and this one even has some padding, too. The only notable missing feature is a false bottom, but we’ll be a bit forgiving here since the Canna doesn’t have a ton of footprint to work with

We would have preferred to see Trakke use a false bottom in this space, but oh well. It’s also a little bit tight to get the laptop through the zipper.

 That said, there’s no false bottom. If you’ve been following us for any length of time, you probably know that we’re huge fans of false bottoms on laptop compartments. This is when the laptop compartment doesn’t actually extend to the bottom of the bag, but instead, there’s a small gap at the bottom meaning your laptop won’t hit the ground if you drop your bag.

The main entry point of this bag, of course, is the rolltop. Once you undo the buckle, you simply unroll the fabric and you’ll have access to the main compartment.
