 Is this bag just cinches down into a much smaller footprint, because there's a lot of bags out there? It'S a 40 60 liter pack, whatever it is, you might only have 15 or 20 liters in the bag or maybe only you're, only using a quarter of its carry capacity, but the footprint of the bag or main is the same so that be able to have A pack that can really kind of switch squish down into a smaller footprint to me is everything, that's a very, very good quality, so just to jump right into it. Of course, this is the the yellow version. This is the also the tall version it comes in a regular size and I'm 6 foot 2, so that the tall version works perfect for me and just right on the outside, you have these straps up here, so you can strap really any additional items. You would like to it there's also a pocket whoops right here on the front

 Alice is a great job with the the comfortable comfort ability of their harness system and their waist belt, and you might be noticing something no words the waist belt with this. What'S what is fantastic Atlas gives you the option that you can take it on or off. It'S up to you and they make great West waist belts very meaty. There'S a lot of material here, a lot of a lot of substance and durability, so they're very good at the waist belts

 I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel. It'S kind of got like a rib design and it is very comfortable and it's got like kind of exaggerated lumbar area right here, which makes carrying this bag very comfortable and in the waist belt, actually tucks right back in here. Let me actually show you on the other bag, so they sent me to. This is a athlete pack and black, but what's different is this one is the regular version

 You have another little stretchy area. Here goes all the way to the bottom: a couple zipper pockets here you could put SD cards or batteries or remote shutters or whatever you like there and that's the the camera compartment. I just want to talk about this real quick on the the back panel.  It'S not like the foam that you would use for your backpack uh straps, it's like a very thick foam, and so they they sent me these, and i actually was able to do the install myself to upgrade this original backpack to be capable of handling a lot More weight and to just improve the frame and that's cool, i think it's important to reuse. You know products like this and to turn them into more functional, updated products when we can so we don't just throw out perfectly viable and useful backpacks and other type of hiking this one. So that's it! That'S my review of the bag. I think it's a great backpack, i i think it's um worth checking these out

 And then here i've got a long, a large version of a telephoto a little bit longer than your traditional 70 to 200, but essentially the the same grouping of lenses all right. You throw this thing on and you can walk for miles and you don't even feel the weight and why is it so comfortable? That'S the real question that we want to answer and we want to see these attributes in the bags that we choose for camera gear, so first thing comfortable, straps, obviously right, but the nice padding and the good form and the heavy duty foam.  If you want stuff that needs to stay absolutely dry, this is a well protected area for your important documents and things like that. This bag has been incredibly comfortable. The most comfortable backpack I've ever had that's also a camera bag and, as you can see, this bag expands to infinity. I haven't actually reached a point where this bag is full, where it's overfilled and where it's been too heavy to carry or anything like that

 It opens on the back and you get full access to the whole bag here in the back, and it has a little special feature called the origami compartment here, which basically allows you to turn some storage space into camera space or, like I said, storage space, and You have more volume for other stuff in the back. It'S it's very shallow, I'm an Olympus ambassador and I shoot with Olympus glass, of course, which is small lenses and they fit in perfectly. But if you have slightly bigger lenses, you'll end up putting them in sideways. Like this, I know that for future versions of this backpack there will be it'll, be slightly deeper and then normal full-frame lenses will also fit in upright or the general full frame lens will fit in upright

 They're not just smaller and larger versions of the exact same pack. There are some differences. this one has a laptop compartment on the front. This one has it inside

 They both feature this top flap drawstring top system and then they both have space down in front of the box that actually holds the camera gear and so with compression straps on the sides. Again, this is true for both models. You can stuff the pack as full as you need to and then cinch them down, throw a tripod on the side, and and make it work. Of course, made out of, you know, ripstop nylon

 Back panels are very similar with this sort of ribbed material. It's very comfortable. The biggest thing that I like about the the suspension system here is the waist belt. Now a lot of packs have waist belts

 just like any other outdoor pack you'd expect. They have the same suspension system for the shoulder harnesses here which is great. They both feature internal metal frames which again standard for hiking packs to help distribute the load of the pack down onto your hips rather than on your shoulders. They have or this one has an adjustable velcro thing for adjusting depending on your your torso height which is great can you get a good fit

If you were to venture out on any of the major long trails in the United States (the PCT or AT, for example), chances are you’d see many packs made by the popular cottage brand ULA Equipment. The Circuit here is their most well-rounded design: Sticking close to the standard UL formula, it features a bare-bones main compartment with a roll top, three large dump pockets, and a hipbelt pocket on each side. But what sets the Circuit apart is its wide range of sizes and fit customization: When ordering through ULA’s website, you can easily customize the hipbelt (6 sizes from XS to XXL), torso (4 sizes from S to XL), and shoulder strap style (J or S straps).   Did a 4 days 40 miles loop in the Cascades. First day was bearable, but by the second I had shoulder and neck pain and my skin around both sides of my hips almost started bleeding (see photo). I'm not a novice to backpacking, nor am I a thin guy; the load really wasn't that heavy but, the suspension system on this backpack prioritizes ventilation over ergonomics and long-distance hauling ability.  There are many great things about it so I might keep it for short, summer time overnight trips - as the ventilation system does work quite well - but would never depend on it for 4-5 days trips

**Beware** Only suitable for lighter loads

 Just because i know that sometimes reviews can be a little bit deceiving the just reading specs or you know, looking at the sizes things like that, they can only go so far. You really need to test it out for yourself in order to see if it works. For you does it work for you when you are wearing this backpack, and so that's what i ended up doing and i'm really glad i did because the two runners up the gossamer gear mariposa and the osprey cirrus were really close runners up. There was just a few features that maybe they didn't have or that they did have that

 You know torso length, you're, going to be selecting your hip belt size, so you're going to need to measure your hips and then you're also going to be selecting the shape of your straps. They have j straps, which are typically for men and they have s straps, which are typically for women. Now, that's not exclusively because really they're talking about body's shape, and so a man can use s-straps. If that's going to work better for his body shape and a woman could use j-straps if that's going to work better for her shape

 It'S almost what i would say custom without being fully custom, although they have that option too to go fully custom. So what you're going to be selecting when you purchase this backpack is the overall size which is going to depend on your. You know torso length, you're, going to be selecting your hip belt size, so you're going to need to measure your hips and then you're also going to be selecting the shape of your straps. Long time lurker here and I love reading about everyones' gear and trips that they have planned. This is my first Lighterpack and the first time actually being thoughtful about the gear I have with me.

**Current base weight:** 11 lbs

**Location/temp range/specific trip description:** WA State Late April to Late September 

**Budget:** I have pretty much spent what I want to spend but maybe $100.

**Non-negotiable Items:** I am not going to replace my tent (not in the budget for a while so please don't suggest a Zpacks, Xmid what have yous...I wish. Love my ULA Circuit! MSR PR Duluxe is also non negotiable. Have two BRS stoves and they are complete piles of shit and I don't get the hype.

**Solo or with another person?:** Solo most of the time or very rarely with my wife

**Additional Information:** Ive dialed in as much as I can from hanging around here and r/lightweight. Not sure if the bidet is going to work with me but I am going to try it. The extra foam pad is a very small amount of extra warmth but mostly because I can't stand the sound of the crinking from my sleep pad on the tent floor. I may be in the plans of hiking the JMT or the AZT in 2024. Options for gear that maybe be heavier but work better is welcome as well! Basically just looking for extra eyeballs on my gear!

ULA Circuit Backpack Review

I haven’t had a chance to use it on any adventures yet but I’ve packed my 20* sleeping bag, tent, and a few articles of clothing in it! Feels great around the shoulders and has excellent storage capabilities! If you can’t fit what you need in this bad boy, you belong in a hotel not the woods! I was a bit skeptical on the price until it dropped to $200 and I was all for it not to mention the Almighty Guarantee is without a doubt the best feature. Definitely worth buying!
