The shape of the handle provides a great grip as well, with two very slight depending angles or you might call them quasi-choils on either end of the handle lock my pointer, middle, and ring fingers in place. The knife also has a bit of a badonkadonk, with a larger handle that extends past the downward angle of the choil, giving you an even more secure grip on the knife itself. That some extension also houses the lanyard hole.

I would prefer a positive action on the knife throughout, but when opened it doesn’t feel insecure.

So how about the steel? S30V is a tried and true workhorse. Developed by Crucible with the help of legendary knife maker Chris Reeve, intended to hold a fine sharp edge for a long time, as well as having a very healthy amount of chromium making it extremely rust resistant.

 Spyderco have just have that there's something special about this particular knife above and beyond. Maybe some of the other ones - and I don't know for sure you know I'm not that not really into that much, but I trust Brian there's something about it. You know. Sometimes they just get things right, and things are just done perfectly well or close enough to perfect that they they just give you the fizz and you just enjoy them right

Why I'm Switching My Pocket Knife

Benchmade 940 in S90V and carbon fiber. My dad's gift to me for getting through highschool. Take that that thing everywhere, only had to sharpen it once. 

What is your absolute favorite knife.? You love it with both your heart and soul.

TLDR: It feels great, I LOVE the weight and looks of carbon fiber but doesn't seem like its a good value.  I'm not a knife enthusiast or a collector, but I wanted something I could carry and forget its in my pocket for everyday tasks. I like premium products like carbon fiber and the idea behind S90v being a steel that keeps its "working edge" for longer periods of time. Overall I can't say i'm crazy about the product for the price

  - Finish of the blade has such a machined look with thin parallel lines vertically across the entire blade. I don't know if that intended but for cost of the blade it just doesn't look like a premium product.  - The blade when closed it is not centered, and I think it may touch the inside of the carbon fiber on the clip side as the deployment in my right hand is slower then when I deploy it in my left hand and i'm right handed. The bevel on the knife is larger on the face then it is on the back side, this maybe intended i'm not sure but I can image this causing some issues while sharpening the blade

I wanted to love this knife.

 This is no big deal because benchmade stands by their products, but now I have to send it back because I paid too much for these issues to exist. Really do love the fit and finish of the carbon fiber scales though. The light weight of such a nice sized knife is incredible as well. It feels like I am carrying my much smaller BM Sequel

. Benchmade replaced the blade on my knife after a few weeks. It is excellent now. Super sharp and centered

 For the size, this is easily the lightest knife I've ever encountered. Ultra-lightweight, travels well, pocket clip allows for a reasonably deep pocket carry, and blade length is legal in my state. It looks and feels pretty durable, the open back design makes it a breeze to clean, and it's classy enough that this knife straddles the "gentleman's knife" category. Those who are knowledgable about knives and/or read on any of the knife forums will understand what I mean when I say that this is a perfectly good choice for a "grail knife

 The blade has a beautiful stonewashed finish that looks great with the carbon fiber - better IMO than a regular stainless finish would look, and it showcases the fine grain of the (very carbide-heavy) steel along the edges.  This blade is everything that I look for in an EDC. For the size, this is easily the lightest knife I've ever encountered. Ultra-lightweight, travels well, pocket clip allows for a reasonably deep pocket carry, and blade length is legal in my state

 I'll post a follow-up after I've sharpened the S90V blade freehand... from what I've read, it's a PITA to sharpen

 The AXIS-lock system is buttery smooth after working it in a bit, and the blade has a rock solid lock-up. The carbon fiber scales are almost holographic, in that they change appearance depending on your viewing angle - very cool! The blade is S90V, which should take on a keenness, and hold an edge, as good as (or better than) anything else out there. The blade has a beautiful stonewashed finish that looks great with the carbon fiber - better IMO than a regular stainless finish would look, and it showcases the fine grain of the (very carbide-heavy) steel along the edges.  This blade is everything that I look for in an EDC

"  My one gripe follows: This knife comes in a standard Benchmade blue box, upon which is printed "Handle with care. Benchmade knives are packaged extremely sharp." This was not the case for me, as the knife arrived with an edge somewhere between a butter knife and an old Buck 110 that I haven't sharpened in a couple years. I've read that this is a common complaint with Benchmade knives, so I don't feel that I got a "bad one" or anything
