Bose Home Speaker 300 vs Bose Portable Smart Speaker

I purchased the *Bose Portable Speaker* for the Airplay 2 capabilities and it has been nothing but pain and heartache. I’ve been 100% disappointed in this product.

Bose speakers have been most effective in my experience for bedtime listening ,they have the best tuning in terms of dynamic bass adjustment for lower volumes and sound is quite full. bose speakers are generally overpriced ,connect to each other well and do have some 360 degree offerings also like revolve, revolve plus, portable home speaker and home speaker 300. or the stereo ones like soundtouch 20, home speaker 500. wouldnt really recommend any jbl, anker or sony(tribit has decent low volume performance) for your application

When I bought the Bose Portable Home Speaker (PHS), I wanted to know how it measured up to the older Bluetooth-only Bose Revolve+. I've had it for a little over a year now and it is a significant generational leap forward over the Revolve+. Pros over Revolve+: a) 20-30 % louder b) Higher fidelity and louder bass while only being slightly larger than Revolve+ (doesn't feel much heavier) Bose has changed their sound signature slightly for this speaker where at near max volume it compresses sound in a much, much more pleasing way versus the Micro, Revolve, Revolve+ c) Higher quality streaming over Wi-Fi & Spotify Connect d) Similar in sound quality to Bose Home Speaker 300 (which is a non-portable speaker) e) 180 degree charging port on bottom - as long as the speaker is handle-side up you can set it on the charging dock (not included) in any direction and it just works. Cons over Revolve+: a) No audio over USB b) No AUX Port c) No tripod mount d) The PHS has loud power on/off, pairing, connection/disconnection tones that can't be turned off *Voice prompts can still be turned on/off, but with them turned off you don't know the battery level unless you check the Bose Music app (the power LED on the speaker remains white the whole time until it is at 10%, when it glows red) e) You can no longer wake-up the speaker via Bluetooth when the speaker is powered-off i

As far as the sound quality, I don't feel it lives up to the price point of this speaker, especially since the Sonos One Gen 2 I bought on sale was significantly cheaper than the Bose Home 300. To my ears the Sonos One Gen 2 sounds better. However, I'm not a sound quality snob, I wanted something more fully featured with aux input as an option, but the lack of reminders makes this speaker not very useful for me, as I would need to supplement it with a Dot or similar Echo device anyways.

Grouping works only sometimes, usually in the beginning and then speakers drop out even though I have great wifi signal on clear channel and router set according to Bose instructions. Changing volume in the app causes speakers to play at random volumes jumping constantly.

Bottom line, you can find the same quality, or better, with better usability for about the same price. I will not be adding any more bose products to my sound system and if I ever win another, I'll sell it.

I bought this hoping I could paired and play multiple room music with Alexa, but I found out I could not do it and did not allow me. I was hoping the sound quality and loudness was going to be better than the revolve but it doesn’t. So you can get a cheaper device anywhere with better sound quality and better features. In my opinion I’m planing to return this and buy another speaker that performs better and for better price

which is not why I bought it. If you want a great sounding bluetooth speaker, this will do. If you're looking for a "smart" speaker, look elsewhere

Just another annoyance. I thought this would be good for ease of use but the Bose software let me down on this product.

It works well with WIFI and Bluetooth. No early dropout. At first listen it wasn’t bad. It has more low end than the revolve+ but it seemed to leave the mids sounding a bit thin

This is the first one once I set up the volume I don’t have to wake Up in the middle of the night because the sound becomes too loud. This speaker also does not give me that bad vibe like resonating in my chest. That being said you have to pass the hurdle of being familiar with the accompanying app and the initial set up. C’mon Bose you should do better! Once the app recognizes the device is a home run

Then i keep getting this weird volume fluctuation. So ill be listening to a song and as it starts volume is at 100% then when the chorus kicks in it kinda gets muffled and sounds like the volume lowers itself by 20% then it goes up again to 100%. Doesnt happen always but enough where it is noticeable and irritating. Now if i lower the overall volume of the speaker this is less frequent

The box is deceiving. The speaker was delivered to my home and the size of the box had me annoyed. I thought I was getting a big speaker for my living room. But when I plugged it up the sound just blew me away! Bose has done it again

BTW, would have bought the Sonos move but it was too big to get down here. Had a Sonos one and that had no problem with their voice control. If you want to use this in the Caribbean or South America you're out of luck.
