We've reviewed both of Bowflex's adjustable dumbbells, both the 552s and the 1080s, and we like them. The technology that's used within them is very good. I guarantee they spent a ton of money to have engineers build it because it's very smart, pretty technical, and they made it so that it was affordable and this is kind of within the same vein

 Let's get into how it's built. all right, let's talk about how it works. So this is the same selecttech technology that they use within the adjustable dumbbells. so if you ever used a 552 set, this works the same way and it goes from 20 pounds all the way up to 80 pounds

 They've got it inputted in on here just like they do on their dumbbells. Do not drop so you need to be careful with it. It will break. It's not designed to be used as a normal barbell

 I can barely feel the knurl and my hands were sliding around the bar doing curls (I had 50lb on the bar, and the bar is 30). There was definitely a bit of residual manufacturing oil on the shaft so I'm going to wipe it down and give it another go but right now I'm very much not enjoying e-coat. Haven't tried skullcrushers yet but if curls had this much movement in-hand I'm not thrilled to put the bar above my head, lol. Will also plan to chalk up a bit and see if that helps but the e-coat is so slick and the knurl so passive that I don't think it will hold chalk very well

 I now understand why people dislike e-coat. The finish is smooth and feels nice but its not what I want on a barbell. I've been complaining about rust on my black oxide vulcan curl bar but I totally get the advantage of black oxide now - it is far grippier and feels a lot like bare steel. Combined with a more aggressive knurl the vulcan bar feels a lot better to use but oiling it once a week still isn't stopping rust coming through in the cambered areas. I'm soaking the Vulcan bar in WD-40 now per their instructions so hopefully that will stave off the rust for a while (though it hasn't before, so I'm not that hopeful).

 When combined with our SelectTech 552 dumbbells we now have everything we need to have an effective strength training workout at home.

The SelectTech 2080 Barbell was a perfect solution when my wife and I decided we were not comfortable returning to our gym when it opened back up. So far our experience with the barbells has been phenomenal. Setting the weights up with the optional Rack was simple and quick and using the barbells is really smooth and simple. I love the diversity that the two different bars offer and swapping between the two is very easy

This weight set for me is a life savor. I don’t really have time to waste on a gym membership so this was perfect for me. You can do most of what you can in a gym with this equipment and if you’re like me and keep it in your room you’re more likely to use it more often and keep yourself in shape. Pros: - Both curl and straight bars provided - 80lbs total weight with option to upgrade to 120lb - Compact size for the weight range available - All tools and parts provided with clear instructions for installation  Cons: - Plastic tabs to hold the plates together - definitely concerned with durability considering they tried this with their dumbbells and had to go back to the metal tabs - Adjusting the weight cradles for the final step was time consuming and frustrating (if not adjusted correctly, weights don’t lock or unlock easily when placing or removing the bar) - Stand is an upgrade for $200 but I feel should be included as standard in the current package  Overall works well and is great for a home gym. My only concern is the durability of the plastic tabs that lock the plates against each other. With 80-120lb and regular usage not sure how long these will hold up. Overall installation took me about 45min with clean-up and unboxing

Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Review: An Adjustable Barbell for Strength Training at Home

When you want to get fancier than simple jumps, this rope, with its longer handles and smooth-rotating PVC cord, is up for the challenge.

 Attached is a photo of the minor scratches on the cord after a week or two of heavy use every day (so it'll last a long time but not forever).  Also, and this has nothing to do with this rope in particular, always jump with shoes on and only jump 1-3 inches off the group or you will beat up your knees and get shin splints, plus you can go longer this way. Just like anything there is right and wrong form and wrong form hurts so watch a YouTube video or something on good form. I learned this the hard way on my last rope

 Weighted handles work your forearms and shoulders more, but they reduce the length of time you can jump making them worse for cardio. The long handles make it easier to cross over and do tricks with your hands staying by your hips. The grips are shaped smartly and the rubber grips make it look like a jump rope worth spending $13 on and do help grip a little but above all are just more comfortable to hold between your fingers than hard plastic. The palm bulge at the end feels very ergonomic, at least to my hands

 The PVC cord seems tougher than others I've seen, but it definitely won't hold up for a long time outdoors or on concrete, so bring a rug or a cardboard box if you know you will be jumping on rough concrete so your cord will last, and try to jump mostly on soft or smooth surfaces like a basketball court or foam mats. I recommend NOT cutting the cord at first. Just make 1-3 knots on either side about 8-12 inches from the handle at first. If 2 weeks pass without you adding or removing one, then you can cut and adjust (you can never go longer if you cut, and knots are helpful at first)
