Build Quality

Not worth the extra bells and whistles, LEDs flat out bad.

I mostly bothered with the "upgrade" for the metal frame, and because I couldn't seem to find the K68 RGB (which I loved functionality wise) with Blue switches. Yes, the blue switches feel better to me, but that's down to preference and beside the point of the review. One of the first things that I noticed was that the supposedly "better" braided cable on this was extra thick, probably to accommodate two wires running through it for the USB pass through. It's incredibly stiff and was more of a pain to route out of the way than the standard rubber wire on the K68

Corsair K95 RGB PLATINUM XT

The keyboard has a solid build, and comes with a comfortable wrist rest that most people should be satisfied with. The doubleshot PBT keys are durable and have a nice feel to them, and the good tactile feedback helps reduce typos, but the keys can feel a bit heavy. Unfortunately, it has limited compatibility on both macOS and Linux systems, but the majority of keys still work on them. Overall, it has a better feel than its predecessor, the Corsair K95 PLATINUM

After about 9 months of use, it's no longer usable.

But I was committed to giving it as much of a shot as I could. Eventually I got to the point where these issues seemingly disappeared as I got more familiar with the sensitivity of the keys. Zero of these issues affect me now, and I 100% believe these are user error cases. Again, it's easy to dismiss it as a bug, but technically it is user error

Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Gaming Keyboard Review

It's a full-size, 104-key device, with an extra six dedicated macro keys at the left edge bringing the total number of keys to 110. The black keys, wrist rest, and just barely gray aluminum top panel restrain the RGB lighting coming through from the switches underneath, but also create strong contrast that makes the colors look especially vibrant. It's a bold look, without stepping over the line to gaudy gamer glam.

There is no reason a software like this should be so bloated. Stay away from this product, and probably Corsair all together. They are overpriced junk!

Quality design, quality build, quality feel, quality key-sound....did I mention quality?

It, too, feels very high quality and heavy. Aaaaaanyway. I'd like to finish by assuring you I'm not paid in any way to review this keyboard favorably; I just really appreciate a quality design, executed brilliantly, and this is it. Any company that wants to put this kind of effort into a product deserves to be praised!

Price Point

An overall great keyboard, which despite some nice high end features, cheaps out with ABS keycaps.

Instead, you have to buy the Corsair set, which is about $30 more than the that popular set of universals that regularly sell for $19. If the total cost of the board with PBT is going to come in closer to $200, it seems you're better off with a nicer keyboard from an online boutique that already comes with PBT (if that matters to you). 2. I'm not sure I'd want to game with this thing - the version with linear Cherry Reds might be a better fit for that

Good, but not that good.

Sure, Corsair has nice lighting software and profiles that are cool, but this just doesn't justify the high cost for a keyboard that will fail in such a short amount of time. It also has poor quality ABS keycaps that have a hollow sound to them and get shiny after just a couple months, but since you can't really change them out easily it just means this thing is going in the trash. Good thing I bought it before the price hikes, because it is just not worth the price.
