Corsair K83 Wireless vs Corsair K95

As you said, most Android apps that do not already have an Android TV version are built around a touch screen interface and it often isn't going to be worth trying to make it work. Sometimes with my keyboard and trackpad, it works ok (Corsair K83), sometimes using the nvidia shield app for control and navigation works better, other times it is hopeless.

But I was committed to giving it as much of a shot as I could. Eventually I got to the point where these issues seemingly disappeared as I got more familiar with the sensitivity of the keys. Zero of these issues affect me now, and I 100% believe these are user error cases. Again, it's easy to dismiss it as a bug, but technically it is user error

It feels quite premium overall and offers a good typing experience. The keyboard has a white backlight, and its companion software allows you to customize the lighting as well as key macros on both Windows and macOS.

The keyboard has a solid build, and comes with a comfortable wrist rest that most people should be satisfied with. The doubleshot PBT keys are durable and have a nice feel to them, and the good tactile feedback helps reduce typos, but the keys can feel a bit heavy. Unfortunately, it has limited compatibility on both macOS and Linux systems, but the majority of keys still work on them. Overall, it has a better feel than its predecessor, the Corsair K95 PLATINUM

(And face it: Everyone's fumbling when they're splayed across a couch.) The keys feel tight when pressed, in a good way: I wouldn't swap out a mechanical keyboard for the K83, by any stretch, but the keyfeel is just as comfortable as the typing experience you get on most thin laptops.

The thumbstick and "game" buttons might be used by like 1 human being on this planet, but otherwise they are pure annoyance, I only see them as something to make it harder to pick the keyboard up one handed, because this has a metal faceplate there is a lot of extra heft, usually a good thing (does add to structural integrity) but when you want to pick it up and move it you're going to push some buttons till you get used to the few decent spots to pick this thing up from, yes you can claw grip it from the top and bottom, but not small handed people. If you don't ever plan on moving your new wireless media keyboard, then you can just ignore what I just wrote. Speaking of wireless, the signal is soooooooo bad with the dongle, if you want smooth and CORRECT feedback you need to have the dongle out somewhere in line of sight of the keyboard, not to mention the times when you unplug the keyboard to kick back on the couch and it just doesn't want to wake up when you tell it to, be prepared to wait a couple minutes sometimes (I have a feeling the frequent updates is causing this), mind you when plugged in no problems (except for that firmware incident). The frequent updates I spoke of before were just firmware, the software is updated way too often too and causes my settings to be reset, not every time though

The caps-lock key needs to be smaller or designed in such a particular way to keep gamers from accidentally pressing it while gaming.

Still, though, even if the touchpad is just defective the actual design is fairly flawed with the placement of the physical mouse buttons. The touchpad is circular (which seems pointless?) but as a result the buttons are about a 5mm below where my thumb wants them to be. I use a MBP touchpad all day long and bought this keyboard to replace a much flimsier Logitech one and both have dramatically better ergonomcis. All in all this device is about 90% amazing but that last 10% (the touchpad) is just a dealbreaker

It's a full-size, 104-key device, with an extra six dedicated macro keys at the left edge bringing the total number of keys to 110. The black keys, wrist rest, and just barely gray aluminum top panel restrain the RGB lighting coming through from the switches underneath, but also create strong contrast that makes the colors look especially vibrant. It's a bold look, without stepping over the line to gaudy gamer glam.

I needed a backlit keyboard since I moved my computer setup in a dark area where lighting is not so great. I don't really like overhead lighting anyway and at times I had issues with typing on the K400, mostly because of the lack of backlight but also because its keys are idiotically close to each other. The K83 feels much smoother and I like the key travel a lot. It is very easy to type on

Here's a quick, sound comparison. The lighting on the platinum shares a lot of similarities with the k70 RGB, which we took a look at last year. Corsa...
