Sound Quality

Drop + HIFIMAN HE4XX

(1/3)

My wife disagrees, but I think movies sound punchier and more intimate on grado cans. And they have the side benefit of letting two people listen to something and just talk like nothing since they leak like mad. But again, all round? These babies, hands down.

FiiO High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amp BTR5

(1/4)

The best part about this little DAC is that you can connect it to the Lightning port using either currently sold Apple camera connection kit (I have both the regular one and the one with the extra Lightning port and they both work). Don't be a dummy like me and waste $20+shipping on an apple USB-C to lightning cable because it won't work. What you need is an apple camera connection kit and the included USB-C charging cable and it'll work great on your iPhone. The reason why you wanna be able to plug it directly into your iPhone is that it sounds 2x as good plugged directly into your iPhone's Lightning port and bypassing the Bluetooth codec

Comfort

Drop + HIFIMAN HE4XX

(1/2)

All-day comfortable with ease (they can get a tiny bit warm with the alcantara pads in a hot room, but not even close to unacceptable) and utterly zero squeaks or creaks (looking at you, Audio Technica AD700's) The one, ONLY gripe I have with them is the nice cable they have is too short for anything other than a desktop amp or device RIGHT in front of you. BUT, it's replaceable, and lots of companies make cables for them. Side benefit is you can get a balanced cable for them, and if you get a BTR5 as well, that amp has a balanced output option. So they can sound EVEN BETTER

FiiO High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amp BTR5

Alone with the camera connection kid, when you hook everything up, fire up the FiiO app and change the setting for power to off until the FiiO is restarted and you're good to go. I love this little thing. I never felt good about having a Bluetooth receiver strapped to my head so I favor Bluetooth DACs like this that let me use my preferred wired headphones while moving the Bluetooth receiver away from my head. The battery life is fine for me and it's really well-made

Fit

Drop + HIFIMAN HE4XX

(1/1)

It's not long enough for comfortable PC/ living room AV receiver use for me, so I ordered a replacement cable when I bought the headphone. The replacement cable is that red one that everybody else is buying. I clipped the "braided" part off, and now they're really cool looking red cables. They click really nicely into the headphones - better click than the stock cable

Durability

FiiO High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amp BTR5

. it stops working out of the blue regardless of your diligence and/or lengths taken to ensure that the device you hold in such high esteem has been thoroughly isolated from the elements as well as properly insulated from the infinite number of traumas our electronics-annihilating world can inflict in an equally infinite number of ways. UGH! So frustrating to have a device brick on you after taking those lengths, especially considering I'm the previous owner of an ES100 that I practically treated as if it were an expendable lab rat that I fully expected to cease living in short order after making it the centerpiece around which I tested the bold claims of some reliable sources that claimed "Corrosion-X" can basically make water a non-factor by making electronics impervious to it after fastidiously applying it. After riding around via motorcycle in the PNW with it velcroed to my helmet for 6+ months, it was the velcro that ended up failing me
