The canister Max Fill is about half what the upright's was, so I need to empty it twice per use rather than once - no biggie. I like that the dirt/hair/debris all finds its way to the bottom of the canister so emptying it is quick and tidy. I'm startled by how much dirt/dust/hair/fur/debris this baby picked up (I vacuumed the place with the old Dyson just 3 days ago, yet the canister was full - twice (of course, I haven't cleaned the upright's filter recently))! I'm delighted with how clean the brush head is afterward! I appreciate that the head is more maneuverable than the upright's in getting into smaller spaces, and the articulating handle makes it even easier! Also, the tiny plastic protrusion off the canister lid that is supposed to click into place after emptying and shutting the lid is mega flimsy. Unbelievably sub-par for a Dyson. I'd expect more from the market leader. After several vacuums in my house (I went from an Electrolux Ultrasilencer for all bare floors a few years ago, which worked great for that purpose, to a Shark liftaway upright in mostly carpet, which was ok, but heavy and broke after 3 years, then I had an Electrolux Corded Ultra Flex, which is an awesome vacuum, but has the stupidest design for their dirt canister that one could possibly come up with and now I had it and bought this expensive Dyson) I am settling for this thing

The suction is the same as my Shark Rocket with a clean filter. It get's stuck on corners and I have to manually move it. The tools that come with it aren't that great. When I empty the bin the door sometimes don't latch and I have to force it to lock in position

I bought this before moving to an apartment with all carpet. I chose this one because I have 2 cats and a baby and carpet is disgusting. I love: 1) the suction on this unit! It took almost 2 months of everyday vacuuming, but I can finally vacuum over 900 SQ ft of carpet and only empty the bin once. 2) after a month and a half of daily vacuuming I could walk around in bare feet for a day without my feet looking dirty (white socks still discolor after 2 days) 3) the tools that came with the vacuum cleaner compliment it well and you *need* them when using the hose because the strong suction makes moving smoothly over a surface neigh impossible 4) it's super easy to take the guard off the roller and unwind the hair that collects on it

It does have powerful suction for hardwood, carpet, and rugs. I will give it a couple of weeks to see if it is worth keeping. I will update​ my findings.

The vacuum is very powerful, however this was a problem with our new, thicker carpet. The auto height adjustment and lack of vacuum level adjustment prevented me from effectively moving the vacuum, as it would literally lock down to the carpeted floor (it worked fine on hardwood and lower grade carpets) . Dyson needs to modify the unit to allow a reduced vacuum setting. I returned the unit to the local warehouse, where I purchased a different vacuum

This makes things awkward to handle. Do not like the removable handle at all---DYSON nailed that design in the DC07 Upright. If you use this for carpet and hard flooring this model has suction power. But I notice the EDGE suction isn't as good as the DC07 model, so that means ladies you have to remove the handle and then get your hand pinched

Haven't had this vacuum very long, so I'm still getting used to it, but so far I love how easy it is to maneuver and the suction is beyond what I expected. I have always had Electrolux vacuums in the past and this is so much easier to maneuver and clean. I really like not having to deal with bags. It's very user friendly!!!

We feel that using the vacuum is very easy on your back compared to our experience with upright units. The hose in this model with the pivoting head makes it easy and less burdensome, since you don't have to worry about the hose getting twisted up on you. Switching attachments is also very quick and easy, and the different mechanisms feel like the rest of the unit, well made and durable.

My biggest complaint is that the cord is too short. I have to stop vacuuming and re-plug the vacuum four times just to do my upstairs living area. Plus it is not recommended to use an extension cord with this machine. Next, it takes quite a bit of effort to move the carpet attachment back and forth over the carpet

But their heads are smaller and they are a little less powerful and their hoses and cords are much shorter. Hope this helps. :)

This is by far the noisiest one I have ever owned. I do like that there is no filter, but make sure it is in the closed position when you are through empting it or the next time you pull it off to empty it you will have a mess to clean up. It only happened to me once and now I make sure it is closed.

I wouldn't sacrifice the power and suction for noise reduction, but bear in mind that this is absolutely not the vacuum for using where you might disturb someone. Especially that stair attachment which sounds like a tiny fighter jet preparing for takeoff. - Now this isn't a gripe that bothers me, but I know it would bother some people.

Cost cutting is my guess not sure if this is because it is a Costco model or all new Dysons are like that. Last night a piece of plastic on the bin broke off when I was emptying the bin. This is a little piece that the red lever pushes on to open the trap to dump the bin. IDK just a bit disappointed in the product for the price
