Cleaning Performance

Loved it new - 2 years later, not so much

The canister Max Fill is about half what the upright's was, so I need to empty it twice per use rather than once - no biggie. I like that the dirt/hair/debris all finds its way to the bottom of the canister so emptying it is quick and tidy. I'm startled by how much dirt/dust/hair/fur/debris this baby picked up (I vacuumed the place with the old Dyson just 3 days ago, yet the canister was full - twice (of course, I haven't cleaned the upright's filter recently))! I'm delighted with how clean the brush head is afterward! I appreciate that the head is more maneuverable than the upright's in getting into smaller spaces, and the articulating handle makes it even easier! I like the trigger for releasing suction - very handy! I love the quieter sound. I love the two-headed attachment that's a brush and a crevice tool in one

My experience with canister vacuums

This is why I generally recommend that people try out a canister in the store before they buy. That said, I've never found them too bad as long as you don't try to use them like an upright. I actually found an older Simplicity canister at the thrift shop that I've been using as my main vacuum for the past couple months and haven't had much trouble with (though I'm still an upright guy all the way).

Quality

Blah vacuum, but sadly, still the one that fits my needs best.

Also, the tiny plastic protrusion off the canister lid that is supposed to click into place after emptying and shutting the lid is mega flimsy. Unbelievably sub-par for a Dyson. I'd expect more from the market leader. After several vacuums in my house (I went from an Electrolux Ultrasilencer for all bare floors a few years ago, which worked great for that purpose, to a Shark liftaway upright in mostly carpet, which was ok, but heavy and broke after 3 years, then I had an Electrolux Corded Ultra Flex, which is an awesome vacuum, but has the stupidest design for their dirt canister that one could possibly come up with and now I had it and bought this expensive Dyson) I am settling for this thing

Vacuum recommendations

Simplicity brand. Best vacuums (I have an uptight snd a small portable) I have ever had. Not sold in big box or department stores, usually at vacuum cleaner shops a d online. Check them out!

Suction

I wanted to love it, but.....nope

The suction is the same as my Shark Rocket with a clean filter. It get's stuck on corners and I have to manually move it. The tools that come with it aren't that great. When I empty the bin the door sometimes don't latch and I have to force it to lock in position

Great but the vacuum head could be better.

I didn’t give it 5 stars because of the vacuum head. The suction is great but the vacuum head needs to be off the ground more. It scratches your hardwood floors as you are trying to vacuum it. You can not maneuver it well even if you allow clearance by opening the top of the handle to allow the air to suck from the top and if you increase the height at the vacuum head

Power

It does have powerful suction for hardwood, carpet, and rugs. I will give it a couple of weeks to see if it is worth keeping. I will update my findings.

Overheats constantly

It’s powerful but mine overheats after about 3 minutes of use and turns off. I then have to wait about 30 minutes before trying to use it again. Maybe mines defective but I wouldn’t waste your money on this thing.

Design

Hold the canister tight when detaching to avoid spilling

Now when I press detach I hold the bottom lid carefully so it doesn’t spill over.beaodes that the accessories are more than enough and overall looks fantastic and the self balancing and longer retractable cord are a plus. I don’t know if my canister is malfunctioning but I rather give it a five.

Solid canister vac!

I will warn everyone out there it is not for rugs at all but I have my uprights for that.

Ease Of Use

Haven't had this vacuum very long, so I'm still getting used to it, but so far I love how easy it is to maneuver and the suction is beyond what I expected. I have always had Electrolux vacuums in the past and this is so much easier to maneuver and clean. I really like not having to deal with bags. It's very user friendly!!!

REVISED REVIEW: Loses suction. Sent for repair twice. Still not repaired.

VERY DISAPPOINTING. Very expensive vacuum, gently and carefully used. By the way, there ARE filters, just none that you can reach and clean. But Somebody has to reach and clean them

I also needed a vacuum that was maneuverable. It also needed to filter the dust and not blow it around creating more dust. This is the answer. Nothing else comes close

Noise Level

No filter and great pickup power

This is by far the noisiest one I have ever owned. I do like that there is no filter, but make sure it is in the closed position when you are through empting it or the next time you pull it off to empty it you will have a mess to clean up. It only happened to me once and now I make sure it is closed.

Compact yet little devil

Compact little devil. May be the only thing i ll complain is the noise level. It is a little louder than my kenmore, but i garanty you u ll ansolutely fall in love with it. The pipe is long and the cord is long
