If you're looking for a cordless stick vacuum that's lightweight and easy to carry around, the Dyson Omni-Glide is worth a look.  It'S a genuinely good innovation. That'S well executed design wise, but there are some downsides. The first thing i'll mention is that the battery life wasn't great. I like that the battery was removable and that you could buy extras if you needed to - and i understand that it was critical for them to keep the handle weight down by using a smaller battery

 They do two things that traditional floor heads don't do very well, which is pick up large debris, while maintaining a good seal on floors, as well as picking up super fine debris. Basically, dusting hard floors again something traditional vacuums. Don'T do well with the articulating neck and 360 degree casters on the bottom, make it incredibly maneuverable and able to do things and go places. Regular vacuums can't i'll have a lot to say about this aspect of the omni glide later, but first, let's hit some of the specs and test results

 But i would have liked to see a bit more than 20 minutes on standard power and about four minutes on max power. I should mention that i didn't need to use the max power mode in the pickup tests, except for the glitter test, because glitter has a way of sticking to the floors. All that to say that 20 minutes on standard power is probably what you can actually expect in real world use. Another negative is that, while hair didn't get caught in the roller per se, it did get caught in the axles of the roller, and it's something i think would be easy for someone to overlook and have problems with if they didn't remove it regularly

 It'S almost half the weight of the recent dyson v15 there's a removable battery in the handle the handle has two buttons, an on off button and a max power button. There is a dust bin that functions much like the recent dyson cordless vacuums, though it is quite a bit smaller than previous models, with the power test, where i tested its suction and airflow in different ways and on all of its power settings. It was interesting, for example, i found it was significantly below average in airflow and with the unsealed suction test, and it was exactly average in the sealed suction test. Basically, the raw power specs weren't anything special with the omniglide, but this wasn't entirely unexpected either

I opted for the Dyson V11 Animal, but I’m sure there are other cheaper models that are similarly effective. Before this, I had a really clunky corded stand up vacuum. It cleaned just fine, but it was so heavy and clunky that it was difficult to get the stairs and it was just generally a pain to lug it from room to room.

In short - cleaning up the cat fur is no longer a mental chore that I have to psych myself up for. Seriously..

The stick vacuum is amaaaazing! I can clean the floors in my entire apartment in like 10-15 minutes. Then, I can shuffle around the attachments and put on the smaller head and deep clean the fur on our futon really quickly as well. Also, since it’s not super heavy and has a long arm extension, you can switch out the attachment to one of the brushes and get the dust on top of the door frames or on our glass tv stand. It’s SO easy!

 there is no center of gravity that makes it balanced at all.  3 Having to remove the shaft then set it somewhere to then release the dirt/dust into the trash only to have the " wand" now crash to the floor unless you pause somewhere that you can rest the "wand" against makes no sense.  4 low thick carpet, this will not even start the brush on the center position you have to move it to the - position then it will not grab the carpet properly and clean it.

1, the switch why can it be held in or be a lockable switch? try to do some cleaning where you might use a flexible hose and the crevice tool? you have to keep one hand on the switch and try to stretch your other arm way way back behind say a desk or other object to try to get into places.. So you can only get as far as your 2 arms can reach while holding the power switch down.  2 This unit is way off balance I have lambert eaton syndrome and this puts the full weight right on my wrist

  5 Over priced for a bad design and to even get a flexible hose you have to spend lots or get an aftermarket hose.  6 back to the balance thing try to use this overhead to clean around doorways or fan blades is is all over the place as it is again off balance., also then try to use a flexible hose with an attachment to reach above your head , you can not do it because you then can not hold the switch down to power the unit.  7 When you put any of the attachment brushes on it you have to turn your head sideways around the vacuum to see where the brush or cleaning head is as the chamber diameter hides your view of the cleaning brush or attachment

 I understand that some people vacuum their hardwood or tile floors but I don't get it. I thought that you were supposed to use the broom? Could you take a minute and explain like I am a child?

 I feel like it takes me 3 hours to resolve these each time and it is never easy. Suction drops and I basically have to use stop my cleaning and wash out the filter and wait for it to dry in two days . I feel like I'm at the point where I can't clean my house in a single session without cleaning my filter. I already dislike cleaning and I almost feel like I have PTSD with vacuuming because it never goes well so I put it off as long as possible and by then it's pretty bad which compounds everything

I purchased a refurb Dyson Animal 2 thinking that it would solve all of these issues. It was great at first and picked up things that the other one didn't. but here I am two years later and still having all over the same issues. Every other time I use it, I get a clog and I can't figure out where it is

**First things first** \- I've been lurking on this subreddit for a fair amount of time, and everything I found here was more or less helpful, even though I'm from Europe and most of the vacuums you recommend are not available here. It was mostly the tech details that I've been looking for, and I found more than enough, thanks to you, guys. There will be no photos, because there are no hidden quirks or cons, all the photos needed you can just google. And forgive me all the mistakes I make, English is my second language so I'm not super-fluent

 When emptying the bin, I just shake the dust and hair off the sponge. The exhaust filter which is behind the main unit handle was never even a little bit dusty or dirty, which means that the main fine dust filter does its job well. All the filters and the bin are washable, supposedly once in a month but I already did it twice because I like it clean. The whole stream of exhaust air goes around the battery and PCB unit and keeps it cooled

 Bags and filters are rather expensive. Too big to keep it somewhere nearby, so I had to carry it from the garage every time I wanted to use it. I would never buy it myself, but it was kind of a gift, an expensive one so there was no other way than to keep it. I was in desperate need of something handy, light, easy to use, when all I needed was to get rid of the freshly shedded dog hair on the carpet or some dirt on the floor before I let the little one eat it while crawling

I was looking at a Dyson V11 Absolute because its easy to clean, and wireless. And also the V11 is on sale for $699 CAD right now.

 Cons are that you have to hold down the power button the entire time you use it, the carpet mode kicks on and off on carpet (even if I'm careful to leave it flat the entire time) and it is an absolute pain in the behind to empty the canister (you have to remove the attachments, empty, then close and put the attachments back on). Less than 2 years in the power button is broken. Unless the vacuum is on the charger, the vacuum stays on. There are also times when I pull the vacuum off the charger stand and it does not turn back on
