after a couple months it was clear they couldn't keep up. This vacuum DEFINITELY has amazing suction and got a disgusting amount of stuff up off my floor. However, it definitely wasn't made for binge-vacuuming

I think cordless is really the main draw for her. We have been looking at the Dyson V15 Detect.

Can a cordless **ever** be the only vacuum for wall to wall carpet? What is best for stairs? Is there anything as powerful as the v15 or v11 outsize in the stick and attachments area? I want to be able to switch out attachments and vacuum everywhere, and have enough so that there are kitchen ones and then ones for gross stuff I don't want touching the other attachments.

Update: today is day 14 from I purchased my Dyson v15, in the 2 weeks I used the Dyson 5 times, fully charged it twice and had to wash the filter 4 times. I took my Dyson back to the store I purchased it from (Harvey Normans Ireland). Last night I washed the filter one last time before returning it and it was still a bit damp today, I informed them of everything, they reapplied the filter and the vac still functioned with a damp filter, which they informed me was a hazard within itself (apparently it should have a safety to cut itself off if it's got any moisture at all around it). They changed it for a new one for me or offered me a diff Dyson or money back, I took another v15 in hopes this one will be different

I read the care manual later and they emphasize washing the filter at least once a month and letting it dry completely. Will try to remember. So far, so good.

That being said, I am exchanging mine because it has an (seemingly somewhat common?) issue where the LCD display advises the filter needs cleaned after five minutes of vacuuming (the warning is reset after it's charged and it doesn't effect the performance of the vacuum but nonetheless you're paying good money for a working product). Dyson support have offered an exchange (courier picks up the broken machine and gives me a replacement at the same time) which I'll receive on Thursday (US customers seem to have shit support but EU/UK folk get much better support).

That's unacceptable. We've cleaned the machine thoroughly, replaced the filter, and tried anything we've seen online etc. and nothing makes a difference. It seems like a deep issue

I recently scored a Dyson V6 Absolute for $60 off of Craigslist! I needed one after moving into a new rental with carpet. I like the cordless stick vacuum as well. Since they are so light and easy to use, I actually use it and vacuum regularly (my cat & I shed a lot). I’ve always disliked the corded, heavy, and bulky vacuums

Personally, I'm in the camp that even the washable filters should be replaced every couple years.

The problem is if you try to use the filter damp the machine gives you the signal it is full or the filter is clogged. I learned this the hard way. The night before having guests over I washed the prefilter. It was still damp in the morning

.. I sincerely hope that Dyson redesigns the whole clear bin/shroud design sooner than later, because I am starting to get tired of having to thoroughly cleaning my machine every time I use it

The v6 has two modes, a default power and a high power setting. On the high setting, the Dyson boasted the second best suction of the lightweight vacuums we tested in this group. On normal power, the v6 produced average suction, though less than both the Electrolux Ergorapido Power or the Shark Rocket on their default power settings.Suction power isn't the only key to a vacuum's success, however

5 stars for the vaccuum but 3 stars to the seller for Price Gouging. They shipped it quickly is the only reason I gave them 3 stars. I paid $1000.00 for this vaccuum

but is it really worth over $400 for an extra vacuum that doesn't replace your existing one?
