Hi, I've been recently planning and researching to build my first custom keyboard.

I've decided on getting the GMMK Pro as case, and I've learned that the stock stabs aren't really that good. After reading/watching numerous videos and posts on reddit, I've come to a conclusion that the C3 Equalz stabs will be the right choice for me... (runner-up was Durock V2) but I have a few questions:

* Is "Equalz" the brand/company name? Do they have an official website of sorts where they have listings of latest iterations? All I can find online are seemingly individual sellers.
* Is the "C3 Equalz X TKC" stabs supposed to be the same thing? Or is it a one-time collab between two companies thus products are limited in quantity?
* Are the 'normal' Equalz stabs being made as of now? If so, what's the latest revision? V2? V3?
* If so, are there any places I could possibly get one in 'plain' colors (white/black)? All I see in stock seem to be in... vibrant colors. I'd personally prefer if they didn't stand out too much when placed alongside the switches.

Quick question for folks more in touch with what's current.. I'm looking to put together (or buy) a 75% bluetooth layout keyboard - I am VERY close to pulling the trigger on a Keychron K2 since it ticks almost every box, however before I do it - I wanted to reach out and see if there's anything else out there I might be able to put together (I've been soldering for years, so that doesn't scare me, and I've built 3 boards from PCB up now).. Also, I've got an embarrassing amount of keycaps already, so I don't need those lol.

wants:

\-  75% US ISO layout 

\- Bluetooth (4+)

\- Programmable firmware (QMK compatible would be a+), or programmable enough that I can move the super, function, alt/meta and page up/down keys around.  Oh, and if I can put control where the universe intended it to be, that'd be a plus too (if you haven't been converted yet, imagine that disgusting, unused caps-lock key on your keyboard as your left-control, and welcome to the club.)

\- either a great switch selection, hot swap, or bring my own switches  (I've been using zilent 62's - and while I tend to bottom out with them, it's just the way my fingers learned to type, so I'm comfy with it -  if anyone knows anything better I should check out, lmk!)

\- Aluminum / heavy case + plate (foam preferred, but I can add this myself later)

\- decent stabs if it's a prebuilt (and I'm on the hunt for better ones in my other boards as well, so thoughts here are also appreciated)

I'm planning on buying the Ducky One 2 SF but I'm not a fan of the decal on the spacebar or the red enter so I'm wondering where I can find white, backlit keycaps to replace the 2. They're 6.25u and 2u respectively. Alternatively, if it's too hard to find keycaps that fit I was considering buying a full set of pudding keycaps but my concern is the non-standard modifier keys in the bottom right. The RALT and Fn keys are 1u and the RSHIFT is 2u.

So I am modding a Keychron K2 non hot-swap and I realized that I might want to go hunt around and find the perfect switch or switch my switches out in the future. So I was wondering if I could put hot-swap sockets on the board instead of soldering the new switches in. Is that reasonable for someone who wants to try lots of switches without buying a desoldering gun? If so, how and what sockets can I use?

Quick question on PE Foam mod: Traditionally the foam is put between the pcb and plate, but in Dave2D's most recent video about the Keychron Q1, he puts the foam underneath the PCB to a similar effect. Has anyone else tried this method of the PE foam mod? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts thank you. 

Also, if anyone has links to buy PE Foam online that would be appreciated as well.

I decided to go with the linear switches (Gateron Red) because I don't really have that accidentally-press problem, as I'm quite light-handed, and I don't really want to overcome that tactile feedback every time I press a key, especially given that I *do* game quite often. The quietest part also appeals to me. The good thing about mechanical keyboards is that if you get one with the hot-swap option, you can easily just replace switches if you don't like them.

I am not a keyboard enthusiast *per se*, I'm just after some advice about purchasing one please.

TL;DR: Need a keyboard which is good for efficient longform writing.

More detail: My wife and I both have jobs that consist of a lot of typing. Like, a *lot*. We used following keyboards because we had them lying around:

For us, these keyboards don’t lend themselves to longform writing. They are loud, which is distracting (not sure if this really needs to be mentioned, but we really need to think and concentrate whilst typing). They are tiring to our fingers, which is kind of a weird thing to say, but is a real thing.

I also had a one of these lying around: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Wired-Keyboard-600-Layout/dp/B001QSZ8IE. So I swapped my keyboard out. The difference is night and day. No noise, simple to type with.

But this just some cheap keyboard I’ve had lying around for ten years. I don’t imagine that this is the best keyboard for the job.

I want to replace our keyboards with the optimal keyboard for typing within my price range. Well, that said, I don’t really have a budget in mind, preferably under £50, but the cheaper the better. We are in the UK, so something that’s available here would be ideal.

I don’t really care whether it’s a mechanical/membrane/whatever type of keyboard. The point is not about any particular type of keyboard, it’s more about the typing efficiency. We need full-size keyboards with number pads, etc.

It will only be used for work. No gaming or any other use.

All suggestions appreciated.

<p>For us, these keyboards don’t lend themselves to longform writing. They are loud, which is distracting (not sure if this really needs to be mentioned, but we really need to think and concentrate whilst typing). They are tiring to our fingers, which is kind of a weird thing to say, but is a real thing.</p>

So I swapped my keyboard out. The difference is night and day. No noise, simple to type with.</p>

<p>But this just some cheap keyboard I’ve had lying around for ten years. I don’t imagine that this is the best keyboard for the job.</p>

<p>I want to replace our keyboards with the optimal keyboard for typing within my price range. Well, that said, I don’t really have a budget in mind, preferably under £50, but the cheaper the better. We are in the UK, so something that’s available here would be ideal.</p>

<p>I don’t really care whether it’s a mechanical/membrane/whatever type of keyboard. The point is not about any particular type of keyboard, it’s more about the typing efficiency. We need full-size keyboards with number pads, etc.</p>

<p>It will only be used for work. No gaming or any other use.</p>

<p>All suggestions appreciated.</p>

Good keyboard for typing?

Setup: Gateron Red Switches with YMDK Double Shot Pudding Keycaps, Matrix Rubberized Orange and Neon Green Keycaps, and custom Hunter X Hunter Keycaps. Had it band-aid clipped and lubed!

 In hindsight after using this for about 3 months I wished I would have just forked the money over for Corsair board or more expensive keychron, but I was on the fence and this board was at a price point I was comfortable with. Below my pro/con and a bit of the con could have been avoided with some more in depth research, so hopefully helpful for you.  Pros: - nice price point (at 60 bucks when I purchased not a bad value) - inbox accessories, like a keycap puller, was unexpected and been nice for cleaning - the rgb presets (no full programmable options with this model) work well and fill the need I have for it - while a lower end board been generally happy keycap and switch (not cherry mx on this board) quality  Con - Have questioned the sturdiness of this board a few times. Dripped a few mL of water on some keys and while I cleaned it up quickly shaked it out, thought I fried the cntrl key which made the board completely unusable

Nice entry-level mechanical keyboard

 The F row keys marked with their corresponding functions is so handy to have as well. I like they white/black color scheme of the keys as compared to some of the grey/brown combinations of other keychron keyboards - this is especially appreciated because it doesn't muddy or mute the vibrant RGB colors.  Unfortunately, that's kind of where my joy ends - beyond that, I do not love the plastic the keycaps are made out of. It feels like lower quality as compared to other boards I have typed on

 You'd think that this wouldn't matter when going with an already noisy keyboard - but the noise isn't the issue; it's a quality thing. The chatter on this board makes it feel like a lower quality, even though it's an overall OK board.  To summarize, this board is ok and it certainly has its high points. I just feel that it had the potential to be a much better keyboard than it turned out to be, and for that reason I am disappointed

High hopes but disappointed

 That one had the brown keys. At the time I was afraid the blue keys would be too loud and clicky for me. When the 10-key version came back in stock, I bought it with the blue clicky keys and I'm very pleased, even like it better than the previous one. Both brown and blue keys are great, but I have come to love the feel and sound of the click

I use the C2 for software development on a Macbook Pro, and sometimes Windows machine. The keyboard that I was accustomed to using prior was a Lenovo, which for me was the gold standard for years. I am not a gamer. Now that I use a C2, I can't go back to anything else

 The white of the RGB model is not quite as pure-white if that's your thing. I usually go red or white on the RGB. One last thing - you will want a wrist-rest with this keyboard, since it's a chunky one and sits pretty high. Build quality is fantastic and I'm super into the way this looks

I've been out of touch with the latest MCH Keyboards advances and want to get a new keyboard for around $100. The reason why I say that it gets bonus points if it's easy to find for sale is cause I'm a brazilian abroad on the US, so I have a limited time here to buy stuff.

I've been reading into it and just from what I read, I'd guess my type of switch would be the Brown switches for a balance between working and gaming. I've preferred blues in the past due to the clickiness but I've grown past that now, and would prefer something less noisy.

Anyways, what are your recommendations? I saw a G512 Carbon in a Sam's Club these days for 90 bucks and it seemed pretty good. Anything better than that in the $100 price range?
