Google Home vs Bose Home Speaker 300

google nest audio, bose home speaker series. blueetooth on these stays on and in pairing mode forever.

They fit in my ear perfectly, Google is responsive, the range on them extends from my gym locker all the way to the gym floor. Really neat product.

which is not why I bought it. If you want a great sounding bluetooth speaker, this will do. If you're looking for a "smart" speaker, look elsewhere

It lacks highs but handles bass sufficiently for the size of the unit. For now it is just a novelty. Without added updates, its value to me will be limited.

As far as the sound quality, I don't feel it lives up to the price point of this speaker, especially since the Sonos One Gen 2 I bought on sale was significantly cheaper than the Bose Home 300. To my ears the Sonos One Gen 2 sounds better. However, I'm not a sound quality snob, I wanted something more fully featured with aux input as an option, but the lack of reminders makes this speaker not very useful for me, as I would need to supplement it with a Dot or similar Echo device anyways.

00 PRICE POINT is not to bad, "if" GOOGLE HOME offers a zillion APPS to make it work like Amazon's ECHO (Alexa). Hum..

Bottom line, you can find the same quality, or better, with better usability for about the same price. I will not be adding any more bose products to my sound system and if I ever win another, I'll sell it.

There were a few hiccups, however. First, I had to buy a new wifi router because my old one was too old or inefficient; I'm not sure what the problem was, but I couldn't get the GH to connect to it. I bought a new Belkin (for about $60) and now everything works fine.

Grouping works only sometimes, usually in the beginning and then speakers drop out even though I have great wifi signal on clear channel and router set according to Bose instructions. Changing volume in the app causes speakers to play at random volumes jumping constantly.

Many of Homes shortcomings can be overcome using IFTTT programing, but it would be nice if more functionality worked right out of the box. It also doesn't have the same capabilities as Google Now on our smart phones as far as doing internet searches. I think it will be a great device once more functionality is built in.

Just another annoyance. I thought this would be good for ease of use but the Bose software let me down on this product.
