Osprey Porter 46

I wouldn't reccomend a suitcase because it slows you down and something with wheels cant go anywhere like a backpack can.

Zipper

Osprey Porter 46

(1/2)

Upgraded from a older Osprey Porter which has been Goto travel back here in the US. I was looking forward to the relocation of the laptop sleeve, which I thought dropped in closest to the back, but this actually has a back/side zipper which is awesome. Like my older Porter, I plan on using this pack for most of my weekend vacation trips and extended overseas travel. Also like the inside straps for compression of inside stuff

Laptop

Osprey Porter 46

Laptop in a slim case, sandwiched between compression packing cubes of clothes worked just fine. Used on staycations with a toddler and longer hikes—still looks new! If you can grab an older version, would definitely recommend.

Commute

Osprey Porter 46

(1/2)

). My purpose: a couple days of work travel. My criteria: work stuff and packed clothes and such to be separate, so I can walk off my flight, into my client site, and not worry about showing all my clothes to everyone while I take out my laptop, without having to carry to bags. This bag accomplishes this amazingly well with a laptop pocket at the back, and two front pockets that accommodate your 'work bag' stuff

Strap

Osprey Porter 46

(1/1)

The laptop pouch on the back of the bag (closest to your back) was nice - managed to bring home a matted photo in that pocket and keep it flat. The compression straps really help to tighten up the load - just use carefully if you've got items beyond clothes in there, as it compresses the organizer pockets too. The compression makes the bag a little sleeker and lower profile. It is helpful that the pockets (on the black bag, at least) are lined in light gray, making it easier to find your items
