Osprey Skimmer 16 Hydration Pack - Women's

(1/1)

This review is for: Osprey Packs Women's Skimmer 16 Hydration Pack, Plum Red I got this for my 5ft, 1in, 95lb, 28 year old daughter. At first she found it a bit on the large size for her small frame, but after spending some time adjusting the various straps she finds it pretty comfortable now. She doesn't mind the plum red color of the bag, but she likes the color of her sister's sapphire blue bag better (guess I'll know better next time). It's got a large main pack area that opens up nice and wide for quick packing and retrieval

Osprey Skimmer 16 Hydration Pack - Women's

(1/1)

This is only a daypack, and while the stitching and materials of construction are decent, it's not designed for long term, heavy duty hiking in foul weather. The fabric is water resistant but it will get saturated after less than an hour of light rain. The dimensions of the pack are 16H X 10W X 9D inches, and it's designed to hold 10 to 25 lb of gear. It's got a total internal volume of 976 cubic inches or 16 L, and weighs 1

Osprey Skimmer 16 Hydration Pack - Women's

The carry handle is nice when you're trying to fill this bag while squatting on some rocks at the edge of a stream - it allows you to hold it open easily to fill it, unlike bladders with a screw cap that tend to collapse while filling. The interior baffles also really help keep the water from sloshing around on aggressive downhill runs over rough terrain. The sternum strap and waist strap are big advantages of this pack that you don't always find in even larger hydration packs. My advice: do NOT get a hydration pack for mountain bike riding without a sternum strap, and if you're going to be carrying some gear and snacks over rough terrain, a waist strap is also a big advantage (though it is removable if you prefer not to have it)
