Size
REI Co-op Traverse 35 Pack Men's
I would say this pack is a lot larger than needed for a day hike, except in winter, but it's not designed to carry skis.
Zipper
REI Co-op Traverse 35 Pack Men's
Some shortcomings are that this is just a top load and that there is not a separate lower compartment for a sleeping bag nor rain cover. The underside pocket of the top brain does not zip and this is where you store the included rain cover as well. there is also a key clip in this pocket. A zipper is much needed here, did it really save that much money not adding it? having this pocket without a zipper is just trouble waiting to happen and makes it useless
Compartment
REI Co-op Traverse 35 Pack Men's
It’s sturdy, comfortable, feels and looks like high quality, plenty of compartments. Yeah, the waist belt pockets are on the small side but I can still fit my iPhone and a snack. Used the rain cover and it was easy to grab and did the job. I have no hesitation recommending this one
Strap
REI Co-op Traverse 35 Pack Men's
I am a big guy and the hip belt and other straps are much more comfortable than other prominent brands. I really love this pack. It's the best hiking gear I have ever owned. I love it!
