 You need three rows for that to work out, but inside dimensions are the same about a half inch different on the height and width, and then the depth is significantly shallower and again this is a 20 liter bag. This is a 21 liter size. So that's pretty again, if you're a shorter frame again, i'm five, nine, and so the gr1 size really fits me perfectly. But this is gon na, be a great camera bag based off of its size and versatility, and it's a little bigger than the bullet 15 liter by about six liters

 I use as my quick access pocket. What I do is the zippers on the front. I try and keep them anywhere towards the top. So, on the go, if I need to open it grab what I need and close it back up, the laura mesh pocket has my electronics pouch

 Is the laptop sleeve like I said this isn't EDC and it was designed as an EDC, so it does have a laptop pocket like all garlic bags to access it. You have to flip the straps back, I'm lucky enough, where I don't need to use this as a laptop of pocket. I actually have a back frame that evenly distributes the weight of the bag. The bag empty is already close to three pounds

 This bag is between 21 and 24 liters. I personally tend to think it falls along the 24 litre and it definitely holds more than some of my 19 or 20 liter backpacks. This bag is made from a thousand D Cordura and, like all the go rock backpacks, it has the slanted front flat pocket and the line of moly at the bottom. I did get a chance to use this bag for a little while before New York and New Jersey completely shut down, as I still had to go to work

 This is not a brown paper bag. It'S actually a packing cube um. This is a packing cube. I generally take with me when I stay at my boyfriend's house, so it has a weekend, maybe a third or fourth day's worth of clothes inside that packing cube

 The bottom is flat, so i think packed out this bag will stand up on its own.  They gave one of my favorites. The radio ruck is a goruck bag. That is small. Basically, it's for small frame people - i am a short short person um, it's it's! It'S short in stature like a and normally a gr1 would be something like this i'll show you next to my bullet

 Since i don't use my wallets very much and uh, let's see so my keys in this front guy my mask because i tend to use those things and this top one i'll put my corona stuff this and this this zippers are all ykk. These are taiwanese made. Ykk zippers, i can tell you already, which is okay um, they tend to be smooth. Go rocks take a little bit to get broken in, as you can see, um like this will take a little while to get smooth, whereas something like this bullet, which is already broken in, is just very smooth, but that's okay anyway, so that's it packed out

Carry that i really like and i'll just stick it in the mesh guy on the other side and then we're rolling and zipping that up front pocket now

 Or does that matter? I don't know, let's look at the back. Actually it does we'll talk about in a minute. The back. The straps are essentially the same from what i can see

 The back. The straps are essentially the same from what i can see. Um the back panel itself, um, it's just slightly longer here, but it's basically the same thing. That does make a difference later, though, when we talk about laptops and how laptops work in here, but aside from that um that are those are the only exterior differences that you can see

I have a surge I got last year, which is grey. I wanted to get the same bag in black for hiking. I ordered this, but the pockets are not the same. The organization pocket near the front does not go all the way to the bottom of the bag the same way in the grey one

Something is wrong with this bag...

 the padding is more on the firmer side which i like because it doesn't seem like the padding will wear out as fast. the laptop compartment is amazing. super cushy and a generous false bottom with a bit of structure in the back panel makes me feel very confident my laptop is protected. I wish they gave just a touch more room in the tablet sleeve though

One thing wrong

  Other than that, will likely use this as my daily carry when I'm done with my trip since I liked it a lot other than these issues.

 My feeling is that this backpack is not designed for carrying heavy loads or being comfortable when fully packed out. The shoulder straps do not seem well designed, are very rigid, and lack load lifters. The back panel lays flat on the back, which is much less comfortable than a bag with some curvature, also the hip strap was entirely useless for moving weight off of the shoulders.  If you are looking to get this backpack to carry a heavy load, I would look elsewhere towards brands that are more geared for comfort

 (Osprey, Gregory, etc). and would recommend hip belts.  Other than that, will likely use this as my daily carry when I'm done with my trip since I liked it a lot other than these issues.

Great backpack overall, but very uncomfortable when packed full.

 The padding on the back and the shoulder straps are more than adequate, and the overall comfort is great. I have never felt like the bag will 'give out' even though I push the capacity to its limits. There is also a laptop compartment with a semi-stiff backing and bottom, so I feel confident that my computer is secure inside.  PROS: -Great comfort -HUGE amount of storage

Great EDC campus backpack!

This is a great bag, can't expect much else from North Face.  It is not without it's flaws though, and I know these may be nitpicky, but this is an expensive bag.  - The waist strap cannot be hidden like old models of North Face backpacks. The buckle will either poke you in the back or dangle down where it can be caught on things

 Considering the overall size of this bag I think this was an oversight.  - Keeping the side straps tightened while not having something rigid inside, such as a laptop, causes the bag to bend in a way that doesn't fit the back very well.

  - The waist strap cannot be hidden like old models of North Face backpacks. The buckle will either poke you in the back or dangle down where it can be caught on things. I may end up cutting it off, although I would like to be able to use it on occasion.  - Side pouches do not firmly hold large bottles such as a 1 or 1

Great bag, nearly perfect.

Got this backpack to replace my old backpack, also a NF Surge. I use my backpack daily during my 2 mile walk to work and frequent airline travel. The backpack is a great work bag that has lots of storage and, as an added benefit, easily fits under plane seats. My old bag held up great until a zipper finally got stuck but this didn't discourage me getting the same bag as a replacement

Finally, there’s the laptop compartment at the back. We are huge fans of bags with generous false bottoms to protect our precious cargo, and The North Face Surge Backpack delivers. This compartment is densely padded, fleece-lined, and has a spot for your laptop and a tablet. You can also fit magazines, small notebooks, or any flat items in here

 We thought the stiffness would soften over time, but it didn’t after a month of use. We mentioned before that the back panel of the men’s version is longer than the women’s. During testing, we noticed that the back panel on this pack felt extra long, so just be aware if you’re on the shorter side. Depending on your height and the length of your torso, you may find that it hangs slightly low onto your butt

 One is completely open, while the other has some organization for smaller items. Once we went on a long hiking trip where we needed to bring lots of water and we were able to carry four bottles between the two actual water bottle pockets and these two on the front. It was glorious, even though we didn’t end up drinking them all.

 This compartment is densely padded, fleece-lined, and has a spot for your laptop and a tablet. You can also fit magazines, small notebooks, or any flat items in here. Cinching the bag down and just carrying a laptop, notebook, and a few documents during our work commute was pretty convenient.

 The version i have here is the all black, but you can see all the different options that they have on the company site and then moving into the materials on the exterior. You have a rip, stop nylon that feels pretty lightweight, but like it's still going to hold up well to rougher usage, it also feels like it's going to offer a nice amount of weather resistance, and then you have ykk zippers all throughout the bag that have worked Really smoothly continuing along the outside on the front, as i mentioned earlier, you have webbing that's going to allow you to attach additional accessories with something like a carabiner. This is normally the spot where i would attach my hero clip, but you have two rows of this. Webbing one on each side, so a lot of different ways that you can attach items and then you have on the bottom of the bag, compression straps that are going to allow you to hold something like a yoga mat or maybe a jacket

 If you place your bag down. You can kind of see this starting to slide out in this compartment. On the left. I just placed a little manicure set that i like to have with me when i'm on the go and then on the right, i placed this usb power block that i use for charging my macbook pro and my other devices when i'm on the road moving up Along the front of the bag, you have another spacious compartment

I like that. The zipper on this one is almost hidden on the front of the bag, and so opening this up

 You can see my 13 inch macbook pro is getting kind of swallowed up by the compartment, but the sleeve is very well padded. I love that it has the soft fleece lining to help prevent against scratching it's a suspended compartment. So if you place your bag down a little bit harder, your device is going to be well protected and so pulling my laptop out now with the compartment empty. You can get a better look at the inside and so plenty of padding on both sides of the compartment, and it comes up enough to be able to hold a thicker device
