35 kg, and the Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is 1.7 kg. So there's room for making it lighter.

Scond, $1300 USD for the cheapest (no dGPU) version is a bit expensive for my taste. If it was available right now, I'd impulse buy it. But if it's gonna be available in March, might as well wait for all OEMs to show their cards. I'm sure there'll be more competitive options like the Mechrevo Code 02

Third, 2 kg is a bit heavy. I can live with it, but for comparison, the LG Gram 17 is 1.35 kg, and the Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is 1.7 kg

Now, battery life depends on load and hardware.  My MacBook Air M1 gets insane battery life.  Modded with a thermal pad and on my old school aluminum brick laptop cooler (someone tell cooler master to crank these out again) it holds it own against the R7 4700U in performance and the screen is wonderful.  But, the 4700U at least in the Honor Magicbook 14, still gets upward of 9 hours, and allows me a choice of OS’s

5 hours of “hardcore” use and the battery was only drained 15%? My 14” M1 Pro eats through 15% during an 1.5 Zoom call and I can hardly call that “hardcore”.

M1 Air blew my mind as well. It didn’t slow down for a bit when I kept installing the apps I usually load a mac with (iTerm2, Docker, VSCode, Raycast, Karabiner, all browsers and so on) and the best thing was that even after running all this and keeping them open, the battery life was phenomenal. It’s like nothing I’ve seen before. I even ran Parallels on it, running Windows on ARM, me watching videos on YouTube on Chrome and the battery still went on and on. Lasted about 11 hours in total with a pretty decent usage in all these apps.

It really depends. My Latitude 2-in-1 gets 20+ hours of battery life. It's got all the ports and the pen and its a wonderful device. Imagine if a MacBook Air was a 2-in-1. It's like that. I like Windows 11 a lot. There's also the Intel Evo devices which give better battery life and a lot depends on the quality of the device and the battery size.

<div class="md"><p>So after upgrading my machines to Windows 11 and finding that I hate the new explorer and settings, I decided to consider the Macbook M1. I have a top of the line Thinkpad Yoga that&#39;s about 1 1/2 years old and I upgraded that to Windows 11 as well. The Thinkpad only gets at most 2.5 hours on the battery so every time I am traveling or out at client offices I am constantly searching for a power plug. I was in Costco and was looking at the Macbook Pro M1 and my wife kept pushing me to try it. I can return it if I don&#39;t like it so what&#39;s the risk. I purchased it and man I am glad I did. The M1 is a monster. It tears through every task and program at record speed with no heat and barely any battery use. I was at the hospital working on the M1 all day while my wife was having surgery and I used it hardcore for about 5 hours and the battery was only down to about 84%. My Thinkpad would have needed a nuclear power plant to run for that long. </p>

<p>I have purchased Macbooks in the past only to return them because I didn&#39;t like the hardware or software. They never really impressed me. The M1 is a completely different animal. The hardware is well built, the software is solid as hell and everything just works so well together. I have an Iphone and can send/receive texts, make calls, contacts, etc. Everything is just so nicely integrated I can just get work done. With the Windows machines it&#39;s always CRASH, DRIVER PROBLEM HERE, PROGRAM DOESN&#39;T WORK THIS TIME, CRASH AGAIN, FREEZE, CRASH, FREEZE, ETC. I could never get work consistently done on any Windows machine for years. Even on my top of the line Ryzen 7 that has a top of the line ASUS Motherboard and two AMD RX580 GPU&#39;s, it&#39;s still not completely stable. It doesn&#39;t matter how much hardware you throw at it or what you do - Windows will always crash and cause issues. One of my hobbies is producing music and I use Ableton and the system always maxes the CPU and glitches the software and does all kinds of crazy crap that ultimately stops me from working nonstop. </p>

<p>Furthermore, even if you don&#39;t have stability issues, the integration of trying to use MICROSOFT PHONE between the laptop and IPhone is sub-par at best. Nothing integrates well and that ultimately causes loss of time. Yes, I am a technical person but I also need to get work done and pay bills so screwing around with OS&#39;s and software isn&#39;t a luxury I have when running my company. I just need something that works and is super stable. </p>

<p>Yes, I have tried Linux and Linux is incredibly stable and I love it but Linux doesn&#39;t have native Microsoft Office support or an alternative to Outlook (Yes, I have tried them all including Evolution). Linux is just missing too many commercial software programs including MS Office, Ableton, Etc. I have tried the Linux alternatives and they always fall short or I just don&#39;t have the time to reinvent my entire workflow after 20 years of use. Maybe when more commercial software comes to the Linux side, that will be the way to go but it&#39;s not there yet. </p>

<p>Anyway, after using the M1 Mac for about 2 months, I freakin love it. It&#39;s literally the best laptop/computer I have ever used. I was having my Ryzen desktop run all three of my monitors but I have since replaced the 3 monitor home setup with my M1. The M1 is so powerful it has no problems running multiple monitors without delay. Try that on my Thinkpad and you will see performance loss immediately. Trust me, if you are thinking about getting an M1, get it. It&#39;s a monster. </p>

<p>The M1 burns through everything you throw at it and memory management is just ridiculous. I can have a Windows VM running, all my regular software, Outlook, etc and the memory never gets overloaded or maxed out. I only have 8 GB memory and I have yet to hit a wall. And believe me I have tried. If you hit the memory limit which is very difficult, the SSD caching is so fast you don&#39;t even notice. </p>

<p>Mac OS is much better now and they really cleaned it up and made is so much better. It does take some time to get used to it coming from Windows but if you stick with it, you will get it. Expect a couple months to get really proficient and used to it. I struggled for a couple months with the key shortcuts etc but now it feels normal. Stay with it and you will get it and it will be worth it. </p>

<p>The only system crash I have ever had was the Brave browser getting hung up on a music video one time. Besides that, I haven&#39;t had any crashes or problems. The underlying linux/BSD is just so dam stable. One program can crap out and the OS just keeps going. You will never see a blue screen or driver issue bringing the machine down. It just doesn&#39;t happen.</p>

<p>This has to be the biggest leap in technology in a long time. The M1/ARM platform is amazing and Apple actually pulled it off when Microsoft tried so many times and failed. Trust me, if you haven&#39;t tried the M1 yet, you are missing out.</p>

Probably the best 15inch laptop on the market

 I am not a computer buff, so I am unsure how to give a thorough spec-type review. This laptop's overall performance has been amazing when it comes to playing games. The battery life is AWESOME. However, the fans can sound pretty loud when you are full-on gaming

 And unless you use headphones 24/7, be prepared not to be able to hear anything. The speaker placement is awful!!! So for the reasons of the microphone taking a crap within less than a year and being hard to hear out of the speakers unless you use headphones, I give this laptop a 3-star rating out of 5. Unfortunate to spend so much on a product for it to not be fully functional

Okay product, not sure I would ever buy again

I got this on Thanks Giving. After viewed many review videos on YouTube , I think this light weight beast is meant to me as I travel around a lot and am a computer graphics programmer. BUT, the battery life lasts 2 - 2.5h for just web browsing, 50% brightness, not even playing any music

Battery Life is a Lie???

 So glad they came through with the fix. I changed the review from 2 stars to 4 stars because this is an excellent laptop, and the battery was my only issue with it. Now that it's fixed, its almost a perfect laptop.

I pre ordered this laptop and have had it for a few months now and it’s a good machine. Build quality is excellent and they keyboard is probably my favorite laptop keyboard that I’ve typed on to date.  I bought this machine for college classes and to bring to work, for there is a lot of downtime in my graveyard shift so I do a bit of gaming. The main reason I bought this laptop versus another gaming laptop was for the battery and I have to say that I’m disappointed in that regard

I decided that the mag-15 was a keeper, even though it would throttle at lower temperatures then the others.   The touchpad is very responsive but a little racket-y. I had to open the laptop and perform a slight adjustment after doing some research. Also, my unit has considerable coil whine, but I don't really mind that. For the price, this is a tremendous product

It often doesn't register taps from the finger to clicks, you'll either have to tap 8-10 times rapidly or move to another part of the track pad. The right click area of the track pad registers your finger tap (a left click) before it registers the right click, so you often left click when you meant to right click.
