 Gaming Desktops are good but far to expensive for a great one. I own one but rarely play it, especially if you want a 4K 60fps experience, that won't even come close to happening on one of these. Like I said get a Series X. Especially from this site for $499!!

 It won't even be good for that long. So save your money, or spend this much on a series x that has a 2080 equivalent gpu and a much faster processor, also a full terabyte SSD. It would be okay if HP would keep up with the latest mid range GPU's, but in this the 1650TI is nearly 3 years old and they actually still sell the 1650 for $699!! Not good. So it's decent for older games, but most games past 2016-2017 or so is going to struggle majorly. The processor is good, though an I5 is not "ideal" for gaming, especially with only a quad-core version. I would recommend just getting an Xbox Series X when you can, for retail price

I loved the laptop when I first got it. The graphics are sharp and the audio function is better than what I expected on a laptop.  The green keyboard can be set TO STAY ON AND NOT SHUT OFF!!!! THANK YOU HP! I got rid of another gamer laptop because the keys always shut off. I did not like that. Also, the trackpad, it's not loud and clacky when you tap it.

 the spacebar, it's loud though. The one key on the entire thing that is loud, the rest of the keys are near silent. Overall, it's fantastic, games look really nice, speed is awesome for regular day to day, the keyboard lighting has a high/low/off setting too. Absolutely loving this thing!

The Lenovo is much better, more modern and more powerful, and importantly has a decent sized SSD rather than hard drive, this will make the computer much faster just on its own, and you can always add a hard drive for more storage for very cheap(not sure about US prices bit could get a good sized one for £60 in the UK).

 

My son will be graduating from High School in May 2021.  He is interested in going to college to learn video editing (He is familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro) like a course offered at Full Sail in Orlando Florida.  He also likes to live stream while he is playing on his PC, XBox, or Nintendo Switch.

His current system is a DELL [Inspiron 3252 Specifications](https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-3252-small-desktop_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf) but because it is old and he has used it for the activities mentioned above and his school work it lags a lot.

* Are the suggested computers good for him to use to start with options to upgrade?
* Are there better options? Where? 
* Is there a basic system we can start from?
* Are we better off trying to build our own (we’ll learn together) with options to upgrade in the future?
* Budget for this is about $1,000 for now.

Buy or Build PC for son interested in video editing and live streaming?

Battery life will last you 8-10 hours which is amazing so you don't have to be near a socket every hour. Performance is amazing on this laptop. With its powerful processor, you will have no problem when web browsing, multi-tasking, and programming.

need Programming laptop

I only hit one real disappointment during my testing period, which was the speakers. The sound quality is not great, and the bass is particularly weak. There was some distortion that wasn’t a huge problem — I could only hear it if I was leaning close to the laptop — but also didn’t go away until the volume was below 50 percent. You can swap between audio presets in Bang & Olufsen’s audio control center for music, movies, and voice, but they didn’t make much of a difference

 The entire Ryzen 5000 line is fast.Having raved about the 1165G7-powered Spectre x360 14 not too long ago, I think the Aero was about on par with that machine in everyday use. It blew through my typical workload of around a dozen Chrome tabs with Slacking, Spotify streaming, and Zoom calls over top with no issues.
