Kenmore Pet Friendly Cross-Over DU3017 vs Kenmore Upright 31140

Cons: Vacuum is quite heavy, brush roll is very difficult to clean (and needs to be cleaned often), no lights on the power head, short cord, pathetic tools, ugly. That said, I've recently tried out an expensive vacuum (almost 5X this price) and it had the same negative issues. Being a Kenmore, I'm hoping this will last longer than my last one, which was named after an oceanic predator (they'll kick out this review if I name a competitor), but at this time I can't comment on its longevity, having had it only a very short time.

We have discovered if you vacuum in one direction, the exhaust--with almost near-precision--creates walls of hair to suck up easily with the incredibly short hose. See #4. #4 Crazy. Short

Purchased 11-2021 for $211. Nice looking, suction is great - best I have seen (but it is new), noisy, takes a lot of force to push, a bit heavy, low (have to bend) power button that is not on the handle. A lot of plastic, but seems like high quality plastic and some metal under face parts. Surprised how much muscle it takes to push - doesn't seem to have a pile height adjustment (so that may be why?)

However, this vacuum doesn't come with a extension hose which is necessary for the vacuum to be more efficient. This is a grave omission since the unit itself is really great. The suction is strong, and handles cat hair and litter on hardwood floors. The pet hair attatchment is a plus for furniture, but is difficult to use since there isn't an extension hose

It's heavy like a typical Kenmore but it's not that bad and it cleans really well like you'd expect now. I'm surprised because the Bushell underneath ...

This one is a really pretty mint/pistachio green. Kenmore has always made products that were both attractive and well made. I am expecting this one will be, as well.

The Kenmore is a bit more powerful than the Kirby in general; being a much more modern design. It would certainly do a better job on your hard floors and perhaps even your carpet.

My like and dislikes about this vacuum is as follows: Liked the easy set up, that it's lightweight, easy to maneuver, has a suction control for draperies, etc., easy to disconnect the container to empty, and easy to store. Disliked that the container cup doesn't hold very much, that the bare-floor switch doesn't have an indicator light to let you know if it's on or off and the only way to tell is if the suction for the carpet is not working very well, the cord is not very long, and there's not a compartment to store all the accessories.

Kenmore top load direct drive 70-80 series. Oldies but are solid and if they do go, they are really easy to work on. Anyone can do it tbh

I am a 240# fairly strong man and I’m breaking out in a sweat after vacuuming 3 medium rooms. Definitely not for the short pile plush carpet.

Although the Kenmore has best in class suction power and carpet beater, it's just a PITA to use and manuever around. Also, the removable hose for the attachments is painfully short, and a lot of people have griped about it. So, when the Vacuum Wars guy said that although this vacuum has best suction power, they used the Shark almost all the time in their house cleaning business because it was just much easier to use AND it had good enough suction power. Actually, better than good enough, but excellent

I bought this vac based on customer feedback and its convertible feature. It is lighter than my old Windtunnel and just as powerful. I have two complaints: The cord is about 5ft too short, so I have to do more plugging and unplugging than I'd like. Not a big deal, but the worst problem is the articulating floor brush

The floor hose is good but about 4-6" too short for comfortable use. A little heavy versus a canister and my old Hoover but compared to my Dyson, it is much better in every way! I like the bagged model which was another plus.

Great vacuum at a decent price. I don't want to spend more than $250 on a vacuum and the Shark I got at Costco died after only a few months (thank goodness for their return policy). I figured my grandparents have had Kenmore products for decades and after doing some research it sounds like this is a Panasonic design being built under license by Cleva. Regardless of its background, this vacuum has excellent suction and very good serviceability

At least it had one for being mid range on price. The height settings are really good. It's got 4. Those self adjusters from others never seem to work right

Within 30 days and just a few uses, the black accordion tubes, especially the L-shaped ones at the base became completely clogged with pet fur and carpet fibers. I have mostly hardwoods with several area rugs. Once clogged, the unit’s suction diminishes considerably and it makes a very loud motor noise, including an ear-piercing screech. In addition to the tubing clogging, the filter backs up with fur long before the canister fills & numerous tiny holes get completely clogged as well

Because of that, you need to wash the pre-motor filter and wipe the inside of the bag compartment every so often. That is one thing I wish Kenmore would fix. If you do not mind that, it is a good unit.
