Keychron C1 vs Keychron K1

I got the C1 to mod and hopefully replace my daily driver for gaming. The games include Stepmania, osu!, and Maplestory (Blaster), so keyboard performance is the top priority. The PCB that comes with the C1 has a fairly high latency which causes keys to register out-of-order when pressed too close together in time. This could be from insufficient scan rate (independent of the polling rate, I measured 250hz scan), or processing delay in the keyboard's MCU

I am a Linux/Android user so the first step was to set the switch to Win/Android and then replace the appropriate keys on the keyboard. This was my first experience replacing keycaps so I was unfamiliar with the process and the usage of the supplied tools. The manual and quick start guide clearly show which keycaps should be replaced but unfortunately do not describe the process of using the tools supplied. I surmised that the tool with the wire loops was to be used for extracting the keycaps, so I used it to carefully extract the keycap perpendicular to the surface of the keyboard

So I had a choice between the SK631, the Keychron K1 and the G915 TKL. Since the other two weren't available in AZERTY I went with the latter. Needless to say, I am VERY pleased with it.

Best for the money! Like that they are low profile and my kid loves using it for school and light gaming. I have other keychron keyboards as well and they are worth every penny. Only thing I wish is that I purchased the blue switches but can never seem to get them in stock. Keychron, maybe I can get one in for review! Wink wink

I wasn't sure I would like the color scheme but it looks better in person than in the pics - I like it. The backlight is nice although the number keys are a little hard to read when the lights are on. But you can always turn the backlight off for that. I also have a Logitech G Pro and I like this better than that one

The keyboard feels very solid, very unlike the cheap crap I had before. It's quiet enough, the sound is pleasing and it's very comfortable for both gaming and typing. No immediate regrets, no plans to mod or change to another one yet.

I was disappointed with the quality of this keyboard. When I bought it, the switches and keycaps seemed okay, but when I put it on my desk and typed on it, it immediately felt unbalanced. Upon further inspection, I saw that the rubber feet were misaligned, and the aluminum body was bent so that the entire keyboard wobbled when you typed on it. I thought it was just a defective unit, so I ordered a replacement, which was even worse

I really like the design of this keyboard. I went with a mostly white (with some black) computer design, and this keyboard fit that aesthetic well. They even included a black "esc" key in case I wanted to get rid of the pre-set orange escape key, but there's something about that orange key that makes me want to keep it up there. What I (and my kids) love most about this keyboard is the backlight options

I've considered using the K1 with the cable instead as it also goes to sleep every few minutes and takes some time to reconnect. Backlighting for the MX Keys is ok with it automatically enabling when it's dark, however, it doesn't work all the time.

This keyboard is lighter then the one I have in the office but that's not a bad thing. The lip at the front fo the keyboard is lower than some of the other mechanical keyboards out there but I did end up getting a wrist support for it. The gateron brown switches are little more mushy compared to outemu brown switches. My only other complaint is when I undock my laptop and keep the keyboard plugged in, I cannot seem to turn off the background light

It seem when I press top-down with right angle, I don't feel it but slightly off angle make additional frictions when I press it. I like the shape and profile but this is very different blue key. If you expect standard size blue key, this maybe quiet heavy (for me, it almost feel like typing black switch). Updated rating
