Keychron K7 vs Keychron K2

Thanks to the low-profile keycaps and switches, this board is comfortable to use without a wrist rest, as you don't have to extend your wrists upwards to use it. Its thin profile is also nice if you want a board to carry around as it doesn't take up too much space. The full RGB backlighting illuminates the keys well, so you can see them in the dark, and you can even program some lighting effects directly on the board.

Update: soooo… I had to get rid of it. After a couple weeks and every wrist rest and desk arrangement I could find, it was too tall for me. Key travel, cool lights and clacking were great, but if your typing style isn’t the best (mine isn’t) you may find yourself with wrist pain and numb hands. I moved to the MX Keys (VERY different, I know) and am really happy with the much lower profile that one has

Are the keycaps interchangeable with Cherry keycaps (I've been told Gateron keys are Cherry clones...)?

So just leave it plugged in right? Well yes but 2 things: the USB c connection isnt the most snug and did disconnect when testing, if I didn't deliberately push it in firmly. Second, the led charging indicator stays on green, even when maxed out, always. So it ruins the look to have the green led shining on the desk. You could put a tiny piece black electrical tape but still, not a good design decision

I work with a Macbook Pro in a desktop mode, so I have an external monitor and the keyboard. The first impression was great. It looks well build. The withe light is a cool white tone perfect for an office and home

Which I don’t want either. But if you want an RGB backlighting you’re going to have to make some concessions.

Unfortunately, there's no proprietary customization software, so you can't remap the keys without installing a third-party program.

I think there's a firmware upgrade that gives you a feature to lock light patterns, so that probably solves this problem. I have found some weird things going on with this keyboard though. It doesn't play nicely on bluetooth with some macOS devices, and it seems to "keep" my 2008 Macbook pro constantly awake, which really annoying. A firmware update might fix this in the future

If the key does not actually WORK, then the keyboard is a FAILURE. Apparently, they do not conform to the USB HID specification. Not worth any price.

I bought the K2 keyboard due to massive positive reviews on youtube. However, this keyboard doesn't really live up to its praises received from Youtube reviewers. If you buy the plastic version, it feels really cheaply made. Even for the Aluminum version, only the sides are made of Aluminum and the entire back is still plastic
