I am a new backpacker, trying to be as light as possible. I have put together this gear list together with the help of an REI sales person and some personal knowledge and was wondering if anyone has any input (things i need to add/remove, things cheaper elsewhere, etc..) anything would be greatly appreciated

 So, let's see, if you get what you pay for, we recently went on our summer family, vacation to Sun River Oregon, which was awesome. We did a lot of sightseeing. We did some kayaking bike riding and a lot of hiking, but we wanted to go to places that a stroller just couldn't take us most likely due to rough terrain. Even the awesome Bob stroller wouldn't be able to make it through some of these spots, and we wanted to do this to expose our baby to new things in the world

 They'Re a little too small, in my opinion, they're probably best served for storing energy gel, but not necessarily a GPS or your cell phone, or anything like that. Probably a multi-tool could fit in there, but they're just a little on the small side. In my opinion, I find that the canopy velcro sometimes makes it difficult to open and close that canopy. I just feel that it gets stuck

 It provides good visibility of the contents that are stored in there and they're located all around the child carrier. I also like that it has an adjustable sternum strap for on-the-go adjustment as you're hiking. It'S very easy to use and a nice touch. I really like that

  The Nebula is a good-sized pack. At 34L, I find it a good size for travel, particularly because of the TSA-approved laptop compartment. All of the dimensions of the 2019 version are the same as the previous version, but somehow weighs .3 pounds more

  The main storage compartment has changed slightly. It’s still very roomy and there’s a file pocket on the back side, but new this year is a zippered compartment on the flap side. This is the only zippered internal pocket in the 2019 Nebula. The old version also only had one zippered pocket, but it was in the smaller, organizational compartment

 The straps and padding on the back do a good job of providing cushion and ventilation. I use the sternum strap all the time, but usually remove the waist straps.  The laptop compartment in the 2019 Nebula is virtually unchanged. The laptop pocket is well-cushioned and doesn’t drop all the way to the bottom, so when you put your pack down, it won’t bottom out

  The organizational compartment has gone through the biggest change. The big improvement here is with the 3 stretchy pockets. The old version had a weird, droopy webbing. The new version has a more uniform style that seems to secure items better

2019 Nebula is still great, but not all of the changes are for the better

 The interior pockets range in size and type, which is helpful for organizing your stuff. The outer stuff mesh pocket is useful for quick item access, and the two water bottle pouches are large and can easily accommodate most any water bottle. The only cons I have with the bag are the size, which I feel could be a little bit bigger, and the top buckle straps. These straps which run from the top of the front of the bag to snaps on the top back of the bag are useful for cinching it down and keeping everything tight, but the issue is that they block zipper access for the main pockets, and as a result they just become a hindrance to opening and closing the bag

 The only cons I have with the bag are the size, which I feel could be a little bit bigger, and the top buckle straps. These straps which run from the top of the front of the bag to snaps on the top back of the bag are useful for cinching it down and keeping everything tight, but the issue is that they block zipper access for the main pockets, and as a result they just become a hindrance to opening and closing the bag. Therefore I just keep them unbuttoned, and I store them in the mesh pocket on the back, but it would be useful if there was a better system to maintain the bag's tightness without impacting its function in this manner. Good Everyday Bag

I purchased this backpack prior to a 10-day trip to Italy with my family. Since we had multiple layovers, including some international layovers, and planned to take trains between several cities, I wanted to use my smaller carry-on suitcase to make it easier to store on airplanes and trains and roll between train stations and hotels. With a 10-day trip, I really wanted a backpack that I could use to supplement my limited packing capabilities in addition to safely transporting my work laptop, ipad, and various personal items like cords, chargers, etc. So my criteria was- laptop sleeve, comfortable straps, water resistant or waterproof, different compartments/pockets for a variety of items, big enough to fit some packing cubes, yet small enough that I wouldn't feel weighed down when on the move, and stylish (my last laptop backpack was a little boring - all black, kind of standard work-issued feel)

 It barely fits my 15" Lenovo and doesn't provide a ton of protection on the top -- the corners of the laptop are very close to the zippers. Probably fine, but if you expect some tougher conditions, you may want to put the laptop inside another sleeve.  The two main pockets are reasonably large and go all the way to the bottom -- no weird dividers or interior pockets. If you just need a bag to jam lots of stuff into and aren't as worried about having five hundred organization features built in, this would fit the bill

 Osprey avoided lots of stupid extraneous pockets that eat into interior cargo space, fortunately. This also gives it a cleaner aesthetic.  The lay-flat design of the laptop pocket (TSA compliant) is a nice touch that doesn't really interfere with the rest of the functionality. The laptop sleeve itself is smaller than I expected

 This is particularly annoying if you're trying to open it with one hand or just slide the zipper down a bit to reach inside and grab something. At this price, even the Ogio, Swiss Gear, Oakley, etc. bags all have better zippers (most have YKK). I'm absolutely baffled at the selection of these zippers

 There should be a 3/4 pack zipper mid pack so the pack can be layed out almost in half, each half with a 4" depth minimum. The front pocket should be a 3/4 zip and inside are organizer pockets. The hip belt is cheesy and should be enhanced for backpacking/hiking use. The water bottle holders should be stowable and not obstruct the ability for the center zip (width spec) to be fully opened so the two mid sections can be packed easily

I have had this bag for about a year and a half and it still looks brand new. Well built and well thought out bag. The zippers open up nice a big giving lots of access. The double zippers allow access without having the entire opening unzipped

Perfect For My Daily Needs

 You'Ve got this stretch front pocket. If you're a bike commuter, you can easily store your u-lock there. It buckles down nicely so that will store quickly and easily. You can also just throw an extra layer there if you're out on the trail, and you want a windbreaker or a rain jacket, so really nice multi-purpose pockets towards the base of the front

 Let'S take that out, so we can check out the inside. The inside of the pack is very simple: there's not much going on. You'Ve got kind of a separated pocket here. If you need to organize some documents - folders or whatnot, but the rest of the pack is just an open compartment

 For the folks who are commuting or using this. As a work bag, there is a dedicated, laptop and tablet sleep in the pack. So if you have your laptop in that fleece, that's going to provide the structure for the pack. So if you need it, you can have the structure there

This pack has great organizational compartments! Exactly what I am looking for with commuting to school and hiking, 34L of capacity! Plenty of room in the main compartment for all my books for college and the secondary compartment is very deep with many organization compartments for quick and safe storage. The laptop compartment is padded very well and can fit my 15" laptop, looks to hold up to a 17" potentially. If you have a lot of items to pack and need to organize them.
