Roborock S4 Max vs Kenmore 31220 Pet-Friendly CrossOver Max

I spent almost 2 weeks researching robot vacuums and decided to go with the Roborock S4 Max. It came yesterday and mapped the whole house for the first time, and it still completed the job in approx 95 min. It is efficient and went over the whole house exactly one time.

The wand extension is very easy & cleaver. Easy to remove & empty the bag-less container; and it's nice not messing with a bag. Since it can be empty after every use there is NO 'stale pet hair' smell the next time you start up the vacuum (not the case with a bag since you don't empty until it's full after several uses). The swivel of the floor head makes it easy to get around, and getting under lips of cabinets and furniture without having to re-position your entire body

I have to dump the hopper every day after it vacuums. I really, really wish that the hopper was larger. The filter is easy to knock the dust out of and so far I've scrubbed it clean twice. The area that this vacuum FAILS is that the plate that keeps the brush in has forward tabs that are too short

It is not so good from the side, which is unfortunate because going down the hallway, I have to maneuver the vacuum directly into the baseboards, back and forth, both sides of the hall. It's possible to run the vacuum parallel to the baseboard, but the curve of the vacuum head makes it all but impossible to simply roll along the base boards. It's necessary to rock the vacuum head, front, back, front, back, along the baseboards for the suction to work well. Again, head-on is the best suction

4. Suction is very good when the vacuum is facing forward, including baseboards. It is not so good from the side, which is unfortunate because going down the hallway, I have to maneuver the vacuum directly into the baseboards, back and forth, both sides of the hall. My second floor is over 600 ft in medium pile carpeted rooms. It was able to clean that on it's 1st attempt with battery still left as well. - Good wheels. I have room several room separators for my kitchen and bathrooms and it was able to climb them without any trouble

We've had this vacuum for a little over a year now and, in a nutshell, the fantastic suction/power is worth the complaints I have regarding other aspects of this model. As an owner of a short-haired dog, a long-haired dog, and a fluffy cat I'm honestly just happy that this vacuum truly does grab the majority of hair, dirt, and dust in our place, including on the furniture. I haven't yet found another upright that is as effective and in a similar price range. If you're interested in the cons we've discovered

I do have to pause the unit about half way through to clean out the dust collector. What I like about the collector is that the filter is washable and reusable. The manufacturer provided you with two filters in the box. All in all, it is easy to use and helps with my allergies, so that is all I care about

Step on button feature to go between carpet and flat floors very easy. Lots of good attachments, all easy to use. Self-propelled forward motion. But the cleaning is impressive

I've had this vac. for a month now. It is not quiet after the first run. It's loud enough to not want to have a conversation over it's noise, and a phone conversation is impossible

Aside from this, even when it was working, it's very heavy, noisy, and difficult to operate. Look elsewhere for a vacuum. And Sears/Kenmore refuses to stand by their product. Terrible customer service (Seas/Kenmore - not Amazon)

-easy to clean and empty -the app is fabulous. I can have her clean from anywhere! Cons: -if you have a lot of dust or hair, make sure you clean the filter out every time (bang it on the side of the garbage can). Suction and cleaning is greatly reduced even if the filter is mildly dirty. -bigger footprint than a lot of robovac -one side brush (although this doesn’t really seem to affect ability much) -clean sensors OFTEN or deal with the annoying alerts

Two stars because it works. Uses two filters, only one of which is washable. Consumer Reports, you let me down. Update: The comment by Yadira of Kenmore customer service asking that I contact her for assistance accomplished nothing

On the Q5, I can’t actually find a place to put it – there doesn’t seem to be a holder or a slot. It seems strange and maybe it is just me, but there is nothing in the instructions about a place to store it and it should be fairly obvious on the unit if there was one. For now, I just put a piece of Velcro on it and on the base and keep it there. Another minus is the way the dust bin was designed

The attachments are flimsy. And the carpet power beater has huge pull. It would be good for an office building with straight open hallways. The design tried to do too much with too little
