-if there is a way to create a version where the ear buds extend just a little more into the ear canal to create a better sound seal and enhance sound quality these could flip the industry upside down!

-sound quality is good for an open style ear bud but for anyone seeking higher quality sound these are not quite there.

Samsung is onto something!

 If you’re worried about bass, don’t be. So long as they’re in your ears right, the Buds Live can kick out plenty of oomph on the bottom end. These sound excellent and just what I’d hoped for considering the $170 price. 

 If you buy the Galaxy Buds Live because of the advertised noise canceling, you’ll be sorely underwhelmed and disappointed. 

 That’s intentional and where I think the “Live” part of the name comes from. These aren’t going to drown out your co-workers when we get back to the office someday, nor are they going to be your preferred airplane companions. Samsung says it designed the Buds Live to eliminate very low frequencies — think the persistent hum of an air conditioner or the rumbling of an Amtrak — and you can hear some of that ambient sound get sliced off when you turn on active noise cancellation. 

With three total beamforming mics — two on the exterior and one inside — the Galaxy Buds Live have performed just fine during my Zoom meetings and voice calls. Samsung says they also have a “voice pickup unit” in the hardware for improved speech detection. You can use either bud independently while the other is charging in the case. 

An unconventional design turns out to be a winner

i grew up in the 1970's and 1980's. i have had and worn more earphone types through the nearly 50 years than i can even count! these are by far the best i have ever owned and worn! the sound is dynamic! i love the ability to noise cancel! most inner ear earphones hurt my ears after 15 or 20 min of wearing them i can leave these in for hours without pain or discomfort!

TBH, the Galaxy Buds Live are the what I use most often day-to-day. They're reliable, comfortable, and good enough for casual listening.

What do you use when you need isolation indoors (eg. home, work, cafe)?

The new Galaxy Buds Live would be a good option, a little over budget at retailers but there are loads going on ebay because they were a free promotion item with the Note 20 Ultra

Not sure if this is a category people look for. Whenever I try searching or narrowing down my results, all I can find is the opposite end of the spectrum where people want MAXIMUM CANCELLATION

The Razer Opus X Wireless is the best wireless headset for mobile gaming we've tested. If you like to game on the go or you're looking for gaming headphones that you can use more casually, these lightweight over-ears support Bluetooth, so you connect to your smartphone or Nintendo Switch. They're also equipped with a 'Gaming Mode' to help deliver low latency on mobile devices.

These comfortable headphones come in a couple of bright and eye-catching colors. They have a somewhat neutral sound profile with a bump of extra high-bass to add boom to your mixes. If you prefer a different sound, their companion app offers EQ presets. While they're advertised to last roughly 30 hours continuously, we measured 68 hours, which is outstanding.

Their integrated mic performs much worse than other mics on this list as it sits far away from your mouth. As a result, speech sounds boxy and somewhat muffled. Your voice can also be drowned out by ambient noise. Even though these headphones have active noise cancelling (ANC) to help tackle background sound, it only offers an okay performance. However, it can still block out ambient chatter, which is handy if you're gaming in shared spaces.

 My answer to that question is yes, but nevertheless, that the Opus is making me question it at all speaks to their quality and value.

 It’s even easier if you just want to pause or resume music; just taking them off of your head will do the trick. The button to turn the noise cancellation on and off is alongside the left ear cup. Like a number of noise-canceling headphones available now, the Opus has a feature that switches on the microphones to let you hear what’s happening around you. You just have to hold the noise cancellation button to toggle it on, then lift off to go back into the ANC bubble

 More so, I wasn’t expecting miracles given Razer’s comparative lack of experience in making headphones. However, they are good enough to make me doubt if my Sony’s are that much better to warrant costing almost double the amount. My answer to that question is yes, but nevertheless, that the Opus is making me question it at all speaks to their quality and value.

The noise cancellation is an area where the Opus doesn’t reach parity with more expensive headphones. I had to raise their volume up higher than I was comfortable with to block out most of the outside noise. Keeping the Opus at a normal volume with noise cancellation on, I can clearly hear my partner talking on the phone from across the room. If you’re in a relatively quiet environment, I think they’ll do the trick, but I’m not confident at all that these could dampen an airplane engine or the loud voices and noises you may want to get rid of during your commute

 The Opus 2 has potential to be better than the Sonys if they fix the common complaints. **EDIT**: For some reason when connected with the cable, the bass and sound is better?..

 It's kind of like the headphones have the capability of good bass but the default sound signature purposefully pulled it back for some reason.  The auto turn off feature is odd. In the app, you can set the headphones to turn off if no audio is being played. On PC I hear that it defaults to 5 min, which is insane

RTINGS: It's flat sound signature is it's pro and con depending on who you are

  Now for the critic side: Even though Razer has pretty much forced their desktop applications on us to get usability out of their products, these particular headphones currently have no support for desktop use with those applications.  The only way to update the firmware is through the mobile app. The only way to change the sound presents is on the mobile app. This is magnified that you can not actually tune the headphones to your liking and must rely on the presents

 I see a lot of reviews floating around where folks seem to think that a lighter headphone "made from cheap plastic" is bad, but fortunately overall the set seems to have a good build quality and remain light.  The ear cups are a nice leather and of course those might get a bit toasty during certain activities, but I didn't notice it too much.  As always Razer doesn't disappoint with its sound quality. Sound seems to be balanced a little heavy on the treble side out of the box for my taste

Yes you can use desktop applications outside of Razer to help tune the headset towards your liking, but it shouldn't have to be that complicated.  They fold well with multiple points of articulation and the included case seems excellent.  Unfortunately, the level of ANC is not adjustable, and I realized that I personally am sensitive to "ear suck" where I felt a lot of ear pressure with the ANC on. This made the headphones uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so for me so I had to return these headphones.  Best feature: sound is really great Overall compromises for the price: non adjustable ANC, does not have Bluetooth 5
