Good filtration. Filter set very expensive. DO NOT PULL CORD ALL THE WAY OUT, the tab on the end of the spring in the cord retractor is weak, will pull off, then you will have a loose cord with no retraction. When you have the cord mostly out, mark it near the canister body with white paint so you will know that is the limit beyond which damage may occur

I'm willing to spend the money for a machine that will last me a decade, but for now want to look at $750 as my top spend. No pets, just an old house and children that make vacuuming a constant need.

Stick with the Compact 160 size Henrys, the Miele Classic C1 or C1 Compact, and the Sebo K2 or E2 and these will be the right size for your house. Since you don't have half or more carpet you won't need the electric powerheads.

It can do any carpet and hard floors. Hepa silver lined filtration, motorized brush tool is great for stairs and upholstery, and did I mention it floats?. If you want an upright go Sebo Dart $500 and add a turbo tool. Built to last, easy to use

92 U.S Gallons. Yes the Miele wins on dust bag capacity but the red self seals that are designed to fold over the dust channel holes fail to close up properly in my experience. SEBO's smaller dust bag comes with a cap that you manually push into the top fill dust channel which seals the dust up completely! The bags are easy to fit and easy to take out once you have mastered the simple design

If you have the budget the Miele C3 Calima and Sebo E1 Kombi are the same power but more features. Henry HVR160 is also a good choice but Miele and Sebo have actual dealers and I think it will be more helpful to see the vacuums in person first and try them and have a local place to get parts and service when you need it and you get longer warranty in store.

The issue with the Dyson isn’t “too much suction”. The problem is with the cleaner head design, it can’t adjust high enough for plush carpeting.

The design was very well though out because there is a parking slot that allows you to store the power head to the canister in a vertical or horizontal position. I highly recommend this vacuum and I am thinking of getting my daughter one.

Also do you guys know if I can use the Felix exhaust filters on the Dart I can't seem to find anywhere saying you can but I don't see why they'd be different. TL;DR: SEBO Dart is good vacuum.

To do any cleaning worth a darn, it needs to be on max suction, which cuts the battery life down to 10-20 minutes depending on the model (and believe me, it's not fun to be rushed). Emptying out the dustbin in a bagless is also disgusting. If the stairs are the only carpet, I would get one of the Mieles you listed or Sebo K2 (or E1 if you can find a used one in your budget), and buy a mini turbo brush for cleaning the stairs (Miele part STB 101, Sebo part 6179ER).

Sebo says that it can't be washed but I'll probably buy a replacement when it's time and then see if the old one will wash up. The second filter is the motor filter and costs around $15. Sounds kind if expensive butI do like having those filters since I have allergies. Oh and it even though the Sebo Dart is not listed as self-propelled (couldn't find anywhere that mentioned it) it feels like it is

The good: Perfect for lots of flat floors (hardwood, tile, linoleum etc.) and a few short nap rugs or carpets. Great for maneuvering under and around furniture. One of the quietest vacuums on the market and great filtration

For mostly carpet you'll want a powerhead with physical height adjustment and a bagged vacuum will last longer. The Sebo Dart and Sebo Felix are great uprights that will easily last 10 years, in fact Sebo's motor warranty is 10 years. For a canister the Miele C1 Cat & Dog and Sebo K3 are good and the Miele C3 Kona and Sebo E3 are better. If you can visit a Miele and Sebo vacuum store it's best as then you can try them out first as every vacuum moves differently and has it's positives and negatives

The K2 has a 25 ft cord with an automatic rewinder. It has power, durability, and a great warranty.

Empty it when it gets full, rinse the pre-motor filter at the top of the bin as specified, occasionally clean the screen inside of the bin whenever necessary, remove any tangling from the brush roll, and replace the exhaust filter when it becomes dirty and it is a great unit. Maintaining any vacuum cleaner is the key to making it last a long time.

I do love the HEPA filter because I know all the crud stays in the vacuum. Highly recommend.
